Faye Huff. assistant editor, Martha Vance. art editor. and Bob XX'agner, advertising manager were supported by all of their classmates pic- tured below. Mr. Byler deserves much credit for :hc completion of the yearbook because of the willingness with which he spent his Qinie and energy and kept after the rest of the class, Being rather inexperienced at such a task as producing a year- book, we had a great deal to learn. These bits of new knowledge were added to our school education. Our only hope is that this book presents and preserves our school memories as we would like to remember them. v l J-05 fl at ...Q Seated Marlene Lesnett, Robert Wagner, Martha Vance, Jme Mansell, Faye Huff, Tom Hartwell. ' ' A113- O17 file Back in 1941 a storm arose. bringing in the Class of SS, At that time we thought it would be heavenly to be a Senior. but now that the big year has come l think we all regret saying such 21 thing. Let us all relax and think back about twelve years ago to all those wonderful memories we will cherish forever and ever. As the storm grew worse our class began to grow a little large. Our first few years of school kept us all pretty busy getting accustomed to our classmates. home- work. and teachers. By the time we were in the third grade. we were accustomed to school and all its connections. One thing that stands out in our minds was the day when the whole school got out to see Lassie Come Home .it our local theater. As we grew older. we stopped doing all those foolish things we used to do. lior example. the girls put away their little dollies. and tl1e l'oys did .lXK'.ly with their cap- guns, cowboy hats, etc. ln the years 19114. 'l5. and Elo, we followed .1bout the same pattern. During those years we were getting ready for the big moment when wt would enter .lunior High. XY'e had a few parties. but as usual our teacher couldnt stand many more of our little stunts. Finally when the big day came, we found ourselves changing classes with all the upper classmen. Our first big party. which took place when we were in the seventh grade. was a Backward Party. lt was held at Miss lXIcCQalmont's house. We had to wear all our clothes backward. even our shoes. Usually at .1 party you play games and then eat, But at .1 Backwards Party, you eat and then play games. After we had played all our games. we were ready to eat again. By that time Miss Nc- Calmont was glad to see the party break up. Then came the time when we graduated from junior High to High School. As freshmen, we enjoyed many activities such as scluare dancing. twirp dancing. flirting, and dating. The latter was something new and wonderful to us younguns. We then had the experience of electing our class officers. The first few days of school were very exciting because we had a new homeroom teacher, Mr. Byler. ln- cidently he hasnt been able to get rid of us since then. On becoming sophomores we all were under tl1e impression that we were something until our initiation into Senior High. Then we were tamed down a TWENTY-TWO L 1 ui ur Ig cs mn cm I1 our suplmomorc mu xx 18 RLSPUIISI unlxtj, L xg 111 to sg L IH our w al mu L u ' w 5 nur mm S1 y 1 1 1 cm mrs ll! u 1 x L um vrmgc Q 1 gr xx X L nm U11 Q x 5 llLIWlQll1l 1 g II IL Q L 1 C LIFIIS Compxm L of our m Qusful md cututllnlng lu XlIILs N ls flu Sxxclrnr hclk xt the Communm vusc lhc. ltrwmplurn um fmt x Lnlmuuc b thc bm ful dcnormrumns Mum Nmuc 1'CL6.lXCd the lumur of bnmg Llwsgn Sumter uccn Mmy Lomphmems were renewed on thus dmne md wx rll peopln termed nr but ex er f notlmr of our SLILQCSSUII busmcss xnmurcs nu r r of CHIIILI xcfrcshmcmi xr mu home bulxubxll gmmcs A .gum mr wmhr mm lm u 1 ro our gl'OXN1l1Lf m mwum ur on our 11st Lung our LI155 plq X Ll C 1 111 Of mursc up ll uucr forget our Prom hcld xr bhcnuugo Inn Tha lxsr llk tm 11 sup xx IS Illxill whcn up num Rumors on Snptuubcr 6 1957 I xrlx ln our Scmor yemr we were 5ponsors of the 111111111 XVhns XY ho New on our utnlrxci lm we burma guests of the umor LIISS H the Sumter I-lop Bcxerlj, Mr.L11rm1s xx 15 clutcd to be one of the xttcndmts md ufhers m the court were Molly Corgy md Mxrlam lumtt NVQ put on 1 wry IIULISIIILI plly xxlugh xx 15 cuurlul Fur of the Prymg, Pm Mrs Hclmlgk md Mrs 'Iobm were Lmd LIIOLIQII to Lllrcu If for us We 1150 sponsored 1 Poho Dune xxhlgh xx 15 wry successful The Semor C1153 would llkc to bld 1 S11 flrexxell to Mr llxlcr our Lllss ldusor ro whom wc ITL xcry gI'1fCfLl1 our other tcmheri ml to 111 you wonderful his By thls time the storm lui Qlelrcd up md IDISSLL1 on md so hu the Ll ss of l9Dv Smcerely Bu crly Nigbnnms HlSICJfl1Il IXXI-NYIX FHRI-E littl' fm'n you. Last years baseball team came out with a .500 percentage mark. XVe split games with East Brook and Evans City. took a single game from Princeton and dropped one to Shenango. Transportation to the away games was furnished by the players themselves and the coach. Our team boasted players who were on the rooster of North County League teams. Eighteen boys showed up for the lirst practice and everyone of them showed the ability they had been hiding during the winter months, The season was very short and some scheduled games never were played because of the uncertain weather. Gene Livingston was the most outstanding player. He tame through with hit after hit and pitched us to one of our victories against two defeats. XX'hen not on the mound. Gene was behind the batter pulling in those wild ones to keep the opponents from stealing. -lim Houston was our third baseman and did a wonderful job of snagging the ball on that corner. Both of these boys will be back this year to help the team out as they have done for two years in succession now. They displayed their pep and energy even when the game went the wrong way. The Varsity Cheerleaders have cheered the Greyhounds on to many victories. A bake sale. selling pro- grams, and the help of our loyal fans always insured the transpor- tation.
