unioz Cyan Qvhliztozbzf This is your news reporter once again bringing you up to date on all the activities of the Junior Class. Although our number has greatly decreased this year, the rest of us are still plodding ever onward. Those who left us are: Carol Forbes, Regina Leonard, Burdette Castor, and Richard Howard. We were well represented this year in the school activities. Two of our fellows, Tom Hartwell and Richard Howard were on the Varsity first string and several others were subs. Seven of our boys were on the Junior Varsity team. We also had three varsity cheerleaders, Molly Corey, Sally Gilliland, Beverly McGinnis and two Junior Varsity cheerleaders, Janet and Barbara Atkinson. The class of 53 sponsored the annual Sweater Hop with Marty Vance chosen Sweater Queen and Molly Corey and Beverly McGinnis in the court. An enjoyable square dance, although not a very profitable one, was held later during the year. At the present time We are planning the Junior-Senior Prom which will be held in May. 4'You Can't Take It With You, a three act comedy, will be pre- sented by the class sometime in the future. Mrs. Helmick and Mr, Tobin have been kind enough to give up some of their time tc direct our play. Our class fund was greatly increased by the sale of pop and candy at the basketball games, and we are proud to say that our magazine sale topped every class preceed- ing us. For reaching the goal of 31,000 we will receive a plaque from the Curtis Company. At this time the Junior Class would like to bid a sad farewell to Burdette Castor and Richard Howard who will be serving their time in the United States Navy. Another live wire, Sonny Klumph, has been absent from our class for quite some time due to illness, but we're expecting him back next year. The officers who were elected to guide us through the year are as follows: President ....... ...., . .... . Sally Gilliland Vice President .. ,.... Molly Corey Secretary ..........,,.. ..... . ..... F aye Huff Treasurer .....,.,. Emma Jane Evans Yours truly, Beverly McGinnis QI-listorianj , , , , 7fzefuniaf1,4 . 4. -s TWENTY-SIX
