The staff has worked hard this school year to prepare what we feel is the best Eagle to be published in recent years at Wilmer-Hutchins High School. The 1980 Eagle's theme is The Year After.. .A Time to Remember, for two specific reasons: 115 The year after the tornado of May 5, 1979 the entire school district experienced tense apprehension. The bel- ligerent feelings that the shakeup in administration caused, had a negative effect on the entire school population. Inner turmoil was only compounded by the natural disasterg C29 A time to remember empha- sizes the good times and the joy we managed to express during this, the most crucial period in our school's history. We will remember finishing the 1978-1979 school year at Bishop College. We will remember beginning the 1979-1980 school year with part of the student body attending classes amidst the rubble and construction at the Hutch and the other part being transported to Cedar Valley Junior Col- lege. We will also remember eating sack lunches from the gymnasium until the cafeteria was finally re- constructed and having no place to have class meetings. ho can forget this school year? We have had many upsets including the departure of some of our devoted teachers. But, somehow, we managed to stick together and overcome the tragic experience of hetornado. herefore the theme is appropriate to our intentions of allowing you to reflect back for just a few oments and realize just how much we have been throughg and, also, just how much we should appreci- te a school system that has endured so much tension and strife.
