For every oppor- tunity we have in our lives today, there is a corresponding responsibility. For the splendid opportunity of freedom, there is the responsibility of safeguarding that freedom! May the students of our school, and especially those who will not be return- ing, accept as their responsibility the job of upholding the high standard of ethics, scholarship, service, and leadership, thus making their contribution to the welfare of our school, our community and our country. Byron, who died at the age of thirty- six, said, The thorns I have reaped are of the tree I planted. They have torn me and my flesh bleeds. I should have known what fruit would spring from such seed. As a group of young people, may you ever be mindful of the truth of such a statement. May you sow only those seeds that will yield for you a prosperous happy life...one of service to your fellowmen .. .and above all, one grounded with an unshakable faith in God.
