We strive to learn just as much as possible about our own United States, since we make up a very small part of it. In studying the United States, we have it divided into five groups. They are: New England, Middle Atlantic, Southern, Central, and Western. In addition to our studying the natural regions and physical features, we learn to name and locate each state and particularly note what the people of each state do to earn a living.

SECOND GRADE ACTIVITIES Good morning, Radio Fans, this is your second grade teacher, Mrs. Kathryn Griffith, speaking to you from her desk, in the second grade room. of the Willshire Community School. In reading class we have learned about animals, brownies, elves, etc. Some- times the children think there might be a brownie hiding in their cellar, but we soon impress on their minds that they are only make believe. In arithmetic we just add and subtract. In English we learn about the capital, period, and the question mark and their place in the sentence. One day in October every one combed his hair, smoothed out his collar, and looked his best, because every boy and girl had his picture taken for the annual. I will sign off wishing every one many more happy days together, and mingled with lots of hard work.
