the Gilliland 1979 W1LLSB0R0 CENTRAL SCHOOL WILLSBORO, NEW YORK The Senior Class of 1979 wishes to dedicate this yearbook to Mrs. Beverly Sodaro. We would like to thank Mrs. Sodaro for all of her long hours and hard work. Without her support and belief in us, we never could have reached our goals. Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in feeling creates LOVE. Lao Tzu 2 Administration Elizabeth Mero. I seem to be getting a picture of the future for each of my classmates. ' Mothers local bar and discotheque is owned and operated by Donna MacDougall and Suzette Moran. Suddenly, music fills my ears and I think of Laura Cahill with her latest LP Laura Alive. featuring her hit Jubilation T. Corn-pone.' On Broadway. I see Darcey Lacey giving an outstanding performance of the character, Daisy Mae Lisa Hamms is swingin' her partner and dancing the Virginia Reel. It looks as though she's become president of the NASD (National Association of Square Dancers) In the sports field. I imagine Lindsay Marcotte maintaining Johnny Bench’s position as catcher for the Cincinnati Reds Jumping up and down, Charlene Palmer is cheering for her N.Y. Cosmos soccer team that she manages David Lee is a well trained guard for the Boston Celtics Brian Shepard is successfully training weight lifters for the U. S. Olympic teams. I don’t know why. but for some reason I see Anita Karl sleeping on the Towne House floor beside an overturned barstool. Then there’re the NATURE lovers of my class. Tommy Cushing is somewhere in the Adirondacks searching for a missing plane. Aaron Young has become the leading tour guide throughout the Adirondack mountains. There are a few members of the class who are living in Willsboro. It looks like Jayne Brown has taken over management of Bryan s Country Store and Lori Dickerson is the proprietor of Phil’s Grocery. Curt Boardman. who was always concerned with the beauty of the town, is having the Ford Garage” repaved. Spencer Lobdell is following his father’s footsteps and managing the Grand Union. Betty Shedd is determined to buy the Riverside and open Willsboro’s first disco! Lisa Sodaro is the proud owner of Willsboro Lanes, where she has 3 display cases of trophies from her championship bowling career. There are several promising politicians among the class. Missy Ingelstrom is not only the first woman mayor of Whallonsburg, but she is also the town’s very first mayor! Scott Moran resides in Washington D C. under the name of Senator Clem Cadittle-hopper. Our exchange student. Hakan Ekstrom, is the Swedish Ambassador to the U S. I hear marching in the distance and see Dale Wells trying to get on the right foot. His sergeant is warning him that he may never reach P.F.C. in the Marines. Mark Mero, with the aid of Mr. Broderick, is studying to become an Environmental Science teacher. Joan Kark is an inspector for the N.Y.S. Narcotics Control Bureau. On my! It looks like Beth Ball is being WHEELED into the general hospital and I think she’s been attacked by a mob of angry probationers from Juvenile Hall! Some of the class may become world travelers. Shari Mero is one of the finest stewardesses among the Todd Hutchins International Airways. I see two very lost faces; Anne Schneider and Jackie Wade. The two girls seem to have taken a wrong turn and are unable to get out of Virginia. In Jamaica. David LaDuke owns his very own tobacco plantation! Barbara St. John is wandering the streets of Paris with a paintbrush in her hand. In outer space, I see Brian Couchey living in a space colony, where he is manufacturing all the Earth s required energy. Back on earth I hear wedding bells and see Martha Clark repeating her marriage vows! More music enters my mind and I see Shea Thomas and Danny Provost performing live for the benefit of the Salvation Army. I never believed that money grew on trees, but it must be true because I see Larry Allen flaunting in wealth and he has become an international playboy! David Patnode is racing his Chevy station wagon in the Indianapolis 500. It looks like Jimmy Shepard is about to announce the opening of his precision hair cutting salon. Matt Coonrod inherited an oil well which will come in very handy since his car is always in demand for more. Alan Aubin is president of the local chapter of Weight Watchers. Who do I imagine as the leading activist of the Adirondacks Park Agency? None other than Russell Morgan. As the picture seems to get cloudy and my projections for the future fade, I catch a glimpse of Bev Sodaro and Jean Ball rocking back and forth at the Sunny Acres insane asylum! It’s unbelievable what those Senior class trips can do to a person!!! 10 n D. ftobi n rxot yovreyes 'toriKcy Sec only liTniiai anS) 7WX T SeeX xj ih understanding duel TJW iriUiiiniunvch more. u S R R W TV XoveL; kveL 3. And now comes the time to be earnest. To substitute work for fun. Our days at high school have been happy. And nights have been filled to the brim. As we tackled our dates and our lessons. With plenty of vigor and vim. The times of trouble were many. But those of joy still more; So we'll leave our school in sorrow. When we stand at last at the door--Door open to the pathway for us to follow a while. To work for ourselves and our country. And we'll lighten our way with a smile. TTlo CsCf TlA 3 - R.M. As we grew with the years, we were always reassured in knowing that we had the support and confidence of the area people and businesses. Our first major endeavor, the Sophomore Sensation, was a fabulous beginning for us. Then our Junior Prom was a spectacular night to remember! Watching the transformation of a gymnasium into a heavenly paradise was truly worth the time and work. The senior play, however, was the one time we could let you see what kind of hams we really are! None of this would have been worth anything if not for the time, money, patience and work of our teachers, parents, friends, and relatives. Since we could not possibly thank everyone individually, we give our heart-felt thanks to you all. THANK YOU The Class of 1979 116
