The vSenior Class of I Willsboro, New York DEDICfflON We, the Class of '76, wish to express our sincere gratitude to Mr. Bruce Patnode and Mr. William Ball. As our advisors, they have shown their patience and understanding when we were reluctant to work and gave us that ’’push to get us going. Their guidance has made possible all our achievements and that final goal Our trip to the Bahamas. Thus, to Mr. Patnode and Mr. Ball we dedicate our yearbook and say Thanks. 3 AD WNtQEATtON Gerald Devan, Guidance Counselor BOARD OF EDUCATION George Shepard, Jr. NOT SHOWN Livingston Hatch Kirk Leaning, Board President Maurice MacDougal Irene Maloney, Clerk 5 FACULTY TOM SPIERTO Jr. High History PETE LUGURI 9 and 10 English ANTHONY CIOPPA 6 High School History MIKE LOPEZ Jr. High Math BEV SODARO 11 and 12 English ROY SANDBERG Science RALPH MARCOTTE Jr. High English SKIP MYLER Jr. High Science JEFF JONES High School Math fACUUY CAY SULLIVAN Commercial NORMA GOFF Home Economics ROBERT SUNDERLAND Language NICK SCORSOME Physical Ed. If we could make days last forever. If words could make wishes come true, We'd spend every day till eternity passes away Just to spend them with you. If we had a box just for wishes, And dreams that had never come true, The box would be empty except For the memories of how we have Spent them with you. But there never seems to be enough time, And the times we spent with you were too few, But one last thing that we'd like to say Is, Jeff, we do, and we will always miss you. 12 Here are the Stars of the 1976 Gilliland: the Seniors . arjuenfe F?ciry ) c aws 2and- ?°P band-1, S ciar-I (Jolley ball - b C)a U,L4 Pres.- -fyufionol Tionor Socie t j Xi.H %xsrw-?i . OAQCNtCrORY When a class spends 13 years together growing up in a small school, they grow very close and share many of the same times, good and bad. 7th and 8th - If we had known what we were in for, we’d have never left the garage. There was Math with Mr. Creaser and French with Mrs. Walker (it seems we spent most of our class time hiding up that hole in the wall.) The major thing we remember about Science was Dave Calkins asking, Mr. Myler, why do frogs jump on each other's back?” In history it was Mr. Spirit throwing Peter Cross in the wastebasket with What are you, a baby or a brat? Peter guessed that he was a baby. It took a while to get used to Mr. Spierto. 9th - We went crazy in English with Mr. Earoid Peterson. Remember when Doug threw that earoid right into his hand? This was the year they covered the paintings in Math class with grubs and we first heard about giant crows. Bobby, Sue, and Ella joined our class and Stephanie, Yvonne, Cooper, and Leo left. Any connections? 10th - The Sophomore Sensation! That was our class' first major project and to everyone's surprise, it was great! (At the party that night, while giving Doug his birthday spanking, we squished his fudge into his shirt!) In Biology we met Joe and Mr. Sandburg split his pants while doing a backbend. We also lost a good friend this year. Jeff, we'll always remember you. 11th - We started to seriously work toward our trip. The dances and Godzilla were the main money makers along with the raffles, suppers, and foodsales (the raincoats bombed). A certain group of Juniors staged a coup d'etat of the office (we were thrown out once for sounding like a barroom). Who can forget brownie-points in typing, the handball and volleyball teams, yo-yo's, and working in the little room? The Prom was the main event though, (we did it all by ourselves) along with the Prom party. Our class is getting along better than ever (it's all those parties!)!! The moon is out a lot and we are beginning to wonder when Doug will reach puberty. 12th - What a fantastic year! We're Seniors, with Senior privileges (at least part of the time, we lost them twice, and Mr. Cauley gave us an ultimatum, saying we could take it or leave it. After making a noise that nearly lost them a 3rd time, Alfie decided we'd take it). Oh and remember the time SOMEBODY threw a snowball through our homeroom window? Thanks to the Senior guys, our basketball, soccer, and baseball (?) teams are 1. There's lots to remember this year: our band play, play practices, the noonhourzombies, killball (Mr. C. loved it), the Indians (which Chop so bravely saved us from), and the Sweathogs. We gained four new friends this year, Tara, Lili, Takehiro, and Roberto. We have had some really good times and still have the trip to go. The moon is still out and we are beginning to wonder IF Doug will ever reach puberty . . . 58 OAQQ PROPHECY The year 2000 will bring many changes to our country and to Willsboro. It will also change the Class of '76. We will be grown up and making our fortunes by different means. Can you picture Richard Morgan as starting pitcher for the Boston Red Sox? Doug Ferris as goalie for the Egyptian Pharoahs of the I.H.L.? Terry Ball tuning his 900 Kawasaki for the Motorcycle Dragging Championships? Sports aren't only confined to men. Fran Bowen is racing her VW at Indy. Medicine is a big occupation for many members of the Class of '76. Missy Adams is putting the world in a strait jacket as a psychologist. Cecile Richards is giving Missy competition as a psychologist. Barb Ball is making a career of nursing. Dave Leaning is the U.S.’s major surgeon specializing in bionic limbs. Sandra Johnson is researching to find a cure for shortness. Many of our classmates are taking it easy. Rick Behan is the world’s supplier. Ted Lee is free-styling. Mike Kelly is cruisin' the country on his Suzuki. Wayne Shepard is teaching Mike to drive the Suzuki. Cathy Bowen and Brenda Jacques are new proprietors of the Town House. Beth Ashline is in the gutter as an alcoholic. John Choate is seeing the mountains of America as a ski bum. As many of our classmates that are taking it easy, many are very busy. Steve Patnode is commander of his own Air Base. Carlton Lee is making a career in the Marines. Kevin Frenier is the North Country's 1 Fiat dealer. Takehiro is president of his own motorcycle company in Japan. Kim Allen is a numbers man in an accounting firm. Dave Calkins is the first American-born Pope. Tim Jaques is in charge of Fran Bowen's pit crew. Peter Cross is head photographer for Playboy magazine. Pete Vanags owns his own carpenter shop. Liliana Carrias is a bi-lingual secretary in El Salvador. Dirk Jaquish has his own lawn-mower repair shop on the Middle Road. Bob Bridge is a phys. ed. instructor at the newly built Reber Tech. George Schreiber is chief cook and bottle washer in his own famous restaurant. Val MacDougall is a secretary at the Essex-County Champlain National Bank. Ella Gorton is a secretary at the county jail in E'town. Diane Belzile is a domestic Engineer. Victor Martin is driving a Pepsi Cola truck. Melvin Root is printing his own money. Polly Oliver is waiting for the year 2001. 59 CANDID CAMERA Mrs. Cauley, I've got about 4 Seniors over here that I'd like you to dispose of Fruitcake Manager of the year! Coate for her help on EVERYTHING, Miss Stone for directing our play, and most of all Mrs. Sodaro who made this yearbook possible. 67 BICENTENNIAL BAND A. Mason, E. Gorton, P. Cross, D. Leaning, S.
