DEDICATION We, Ciass °f 1974, wish to express our sincere appreciation to Mrs. Beverly Sodaro, who has woiked as hard, “ ar7er than we have. During our four years in high school, we have come to know our class advisor as a true and thoughtful friend. She is a wonderful teacher, and she has passed along her vast knowledge of English and literature to us. As we struggled up the path of adulthood, her advice was readily accepted. Without her sense of humor and optimistic outlook, we would have lost all hope for a trip to the Bahamas. Her determination and stamina kept us going and as a result, we earned enough money to get there. She has given up tremendous amounts of her time and energy in order to make our yearbook a success. Our last years at Willsboro Central have been made especially memorable by her, and we shall always hold a tender place in our hearts for her. This is why we the Class of 1974, wish to dedicate this yearbook to you, Mrs. Sodaro, with our love. 2 In Appreciation We, the graduating class of 1974, take this opportunity to thank all the people who have donated their time and energy in helping us during our school years. Especially, Tom Spierto for his help on our Sophomore Sensation; June Mero, Hilda Martin, Jack Williams, and Arnie Stoker for helping on our Junior Prom; Skip and Ann Myler for giving the prom party; Richard and Sharleen Hathaway for having the breakfast; Rita Devan for making the crowns; and all the parents who opened their homes for our meetings. Pete Luguri for directing our successful Senior Play, Mrs. Mero for helping with make-up, and Amie for helping us. Kent Cauley for arranging our trip to the Bahamas and the Board of Education for allowing us to leave a week before spring vacation. Cay Sullivan for keeping the bank books, and all the teachers and parents who have chaperoned our dances, movies, yearbook meetings, and other activities. 4 We will always be grateful to everyone who has helped us even in the smallest way. With Mrs. Marshall and Mrs. Stafford we learned to like first grade. How we wanted to read! (So close attention we paid.) Second grade was next with Mrs. Powell and Mrs. Hatch; When we played 3-Deep, Mrs. Powell was hardest to catch. Then came third grade with Mrs. Martin and Miss Grupe, But we couldn't wait to see how fourth grade would be. With Mrs. Murphy and Mrs. Helms we learned multiplication, Even though we learned it with some hesitation! Thinking of Mrs. Wrisley and Mrs. Sayward brings to us a tear; Remember learning the 50 states and capitals that year? Then came sixth grade; our education half through; How could we forget Mrs. Mason and Mrs. Sayward, too? Seventh grade was a big change in our lives; Through those first few months, how did we survive? Eighth grade seemed to slip right by, And we became Freshmen in the wink of an eye. Then we were Sophomores and had our Sensation, But, we looked forward to being Juniors with much jubilation. In our Junior year we started to really make money In order to go on a trip where it's always sunny. We had dances, sold magazines, and food sales also And we couldn't have done it without Mrs. Sodaro. When ordering our class rings, we couldn't be calm But then came our big night, our glorious prom For months before, we made tissue flowers, At the meetings we worked and laughed for hours; For a while we wondered if we could get done. But, on May 26 that evening had actually come; Everyone looked so wonderful that night We juniors thought our prom was a beautiful sight; The party at Myler's was so much fun And the breakfast at Hathaways an exceptional one. As Seniors we needed to make ten thousand dollars And, for our class trip we strove to send our scholars; Now we are graduates, and that you can't deny But can you please tell us Where did those years go by? We were the last class to be fortunate enough to have Mrs. Booth for Eighth Grade English. Knowing her love for nature, we sent her a plant. Here is the poem she wrote to us; now we are sharing it with you. My Thank-you to English 8 Prologue: A flowery poem I've tried to write, Using a few words beyond your sight. But if these words you do not know, To the dictionary, you can go. To myths I've made an occasional allusion, Just to add to your confusion! Noncomposmentis on the loose? You may be right; O help me, Zeus. I wonder who did recommend The plant that came—a cyclamen. Its color pink, much like Aurora, Most gorgeous, exotic of the flora. Its beauty like a maiden's blush Stole o'er me in a gentle rush; Were I a goddess, living here, I would not, could not, shed a tear, But being mortal, most inept, I must confess—oh, yes, I wept A tear of two—Who dares to sneak upon me unawares? In privacy, I can surely be What I am—an emotional SHE! Which means I'm most appreciative That English 8 would want to give This fabulous, full-bloomed plant to me. Mindful of Persephone Who spent so many daytime hours, Plucking woodland's colorful flowers. My dears, I thank you from the heart. Touched I am, and as we part, I'll beg the Fates, those women three, To treat you all like royalty. Carefully guiding each of you, Where'er you go, whate'er you do. Now, to quote Corky, by and large, Best wishes to all, and love from Sarge 72 Epilogue: Non composmentis ? Now I'm free! Thank you, Zeus, for helping me.
