GUIDANCE COUNSELOR Gerald Devan SUPERVISING PRINCIPAL Francis B. Sprague TO THE CLASS OF 1963 You have graduated from High School. Your education has just begun. The world of books, of formulas, of ideas, of government, of religion, of beauty, of creation, of people and what they stand for, of problems and their solutions, of things which build and things which destroy - all this and much else awaits your investigation and understanding. You can read and you can reason. From now on your education consists in using these skills to acquire many, many more facts, in sorting and evaluating these facts, and in using all this toward a two-fold goal of appreciation and creation. The more you understand and appreciate, the greater the measure of fullness which will come into your life. The degree of creative living you achieve will determine your effectiveness and usefulness as a person. A house well-built, a book well-written, a child well-taught, a disease cured, are but simple examples of creative thought and action. Living and learning take place at the same time. When one ceases, the other ceases also. Many people stop living long before they die. It could be that they think there is nothing more to learn, or nothing more to do.
