Last fall, a Latin Club was formed. The Latin II members became the Senatorial Party or the Optimates who initiated the Latin I group into the Club as the Popular Party or the Plebes. The Club membership numbers twenty-four. Club officers were elected as follows: Counsuls, Micky Moran, Gael Maclnnes; Quaestor, Bill Albee; Scriba, Darlene Davis; Lictor, Ronnie Bruno and Ann Nichols. Ronnie Bruno and Gary Murphy did the art work for a membership scroll, decorated with Roman symbols. Pins were ordered for each member. Hell Week, a P-Rade, Stunt Night, and an impressive Initiation Ceremony ushered in the Plebes. Members, clad in togas, attend meetings every two weeks. Latin charades, skits and games from the entertainment for these meetings. The object of the Club is to re-live the life of the Romans insofar as it is possible. The year's activities end with a Roman banquet in early June, at which time all will recline and partake of food and amusement, quite as the Romans did. Latin may be a dead language, but Latin Club is certainly learning how to live it up.
