Students attend school part of the day, take two other major subjects besides D.E., and work the rest of the day. ln class, they get basic training for sal- able skills in their chosen area of endeavor. On the job, the D.E. student-learners have supervised in- struction, follow a training plan, and are period- ically graded and evaluated by their supervisors. D.E.students receive one credit per semester for on-the-job learning activities. The students themselves carry out their own activ- ities, which include field trips, organization of D.E. dances, participation in refreshment sales, appearances of guest speakers and attendance at conventions. They terminate each year with their annual D.E. employer- employee-luncheon.
