A TRADITION ENDS The gymnastics season started very badly with the team losing the first five meets. After Christmas they picked up, starting to score over 100 points, and won the next six meets in a row. We ended the season with 6 wins and 6 losses, a fourth-place finish in the Rich East Invitational, and second-place finish in the D.P.V.C. Championship meet. With improved performances, we entered State competition with a second-place finish in Districts, a fifth-place in Sectionals, and qualified five boys to compete in the State meet. With nervous performances, the team ended in 31st place, still outdistancing all other D.P.V.L. teams. The team dual meet average was 103.11 points per meet. This was an improvement of six points over last year. The team elected Pat Comerford captain and Tom Underwood the most improved gymnast. Jeff Olsen and Pat Comerford tied for the Warrior award, which picks the most valuable gymnast for each meet. They each won four times. The sophomores had a team record of 10 wins and 2 losses, were D.P.V.L. champions, and took fifth place in the Wheaton Invitational.
