The season began on a high note with a victory over traditional rival York, 13-7. The Warriors second opponents, West Leyden, also fell before them, 27-19. The Warriors, however, met their match in Glenbard East. In this game nine key players were injured, and we dropped the game, 31-14. From this game until the end of the season, the Warriors were plagued with bad luck and injuries. Even so, the players played good football with a season record of 3-4-1 and fifth place. However, only sixteen points separated the team from a Conference championship and a 7-1 record. Coaches Evans and Owen summed up the season by saying, So close, but yet so far! The team's co-captains were Larry Shissler and Dennis Sugino, Most Valuable Player and Most Improved Player were Jim Ryan and Joe Marzano, respectively. The outlook is good for the junior varsity to regain the DPVL championship for Willowbrook next year. The team took second place in Conference with a record of 6-1, being beaten only by undefeated Glenbard East. At the end of the season, the players elected their co-captains, Wally Streid and Jim Brooks. Nlost Valuable Player went to John Redden, and Most Improved Player was Bill Warren.
