NOT PICTURED: Larry Richards, Les Frans, Bob Johnson, Jeff Taylor, and Jim Gulliford. The Willowbrook Gymnastic season was very successful, as it has been in the past. This year's team was made up of a very strong senior group with several juniors backing up. The DPVL championship was won for the fifth time in as many years with 99 points scored in the Conference meet and a perfect Conference dual meet record of 6 wins and O losses. We entered the Barrington Invitational for the second year and placed second for a second time. But we did win four of the seven individual championships, with Kruse on trampoline, Shaw on the side horse, Reidel on rings, and Stein on tumbling. This, including an overall dual meet season of 13 wins and 2 losses, was in preparation for the State Meet. We went into the Dis- trict Meet at West Leyden as one of the favored but finished second by 12 points. Randy Rauda- baugh was crowned District champion in tumbling, and we placed five other members in seven events for the preliminaries of the State Meet. In the preliminaries, four boys qualified for the finals. Lars Kruse placed 5th on the tram- poline, Owen LeGare tied for 5th on high bar, and sophomore Steve Stein placed 5th in tum- bling. Jim Reidel was 8th in rings. They gave the team a 6th place finish, only 11 points from 3rd place in State. Kruse was elected captain, Raugabaugh was most valuable, and Jeff Taylor was the most improved. The soph season was not what we expected: one of the poorest seasons in WB gymnastic history. They finished with a 6 win-9 loss, a 6th place Wheaton Invitational, and a 4th place finish in the Conference Meet, but finished 3rd in Conference. SOPHOMORE GYMNASTICS: FIRST ROW: Jeff Smith, Bob Hurley, Frank Milazzo, Dan Webster, Pat Comerford, Tony LeGare, Bob Steinbach, Ken Heinrichs, Bill Stoltz, Paul Weber, Jack McCune, and Pat McCluskey. NOT PIC- TURED Tom Mann and Mark Cummings. The 1967-68 sophomore basketball squad finished fourth in league competition with a record of six wins and six losses. Their overall record was six wins and ten losses. Letter win- ners were Mark Cummings, George Lococo, Gary Kasper, Dave Paulson, Dave Roberts, John Hil- lan-team captain, Tom Mann-elected best defensive player, and Randy Lusk, who finished the season as the leading scorer and best free throw shooter. Dave Roberts led the team in rebounds. Other members of the squad who contributed greatly to the team's success were Mike Sullivan, Tim Gustaveson, and Dan Kupkowski. The Freshmen A team had an overall record of 15-2. The two losses were to York and Glenbard East by two points each. The A team was also co-champions of the DPVL with a record of 11-1. They were also champions of the Hinsdale South holiday tournament. The Freshmen B team had an overall record of 12-2. They were champions of the DPVL with a record of 11-1. The varsity track team was led by Co-Captain Bill Biliskis in distance running and Ron Kimball in the sprints, hur- dles, and longjumps. The varsity worked very hard to place 3rd in the DPVL indoor and Outdoor Meets. The varsity won 5 and lost 1 indoor dual meets. There were a lot of injuries, and this held back some of the performances. Outstanding performers were Bill Biliskis, distance: Ron Kimball, sprints and hurdles: Bob King, high jump: Bob Rogers, high jump: Mike Bennett. 4403 Charles Gallagher, distance. The future looks very good for Willowbrook track for the next few years. The sophomores were undefeated, winning the DPVL Meet. The high spot of the season was the meet in which the frosh beat Proviso West and Glenbard East freshman teams: WB: 483 G.E., 45: and P.W., 44. In the same meet, the sophomores beat Proviso West and Glenbard East: WB 57 1!2:P.W.56 1!23 and G.E. 22.
