VARSITY BASKETBALL: FRONT ROW: Ron Auch, Jim Petrovich, Assistant Coach Clint Evans. Head Coach Marshall Stoner, Randy Dean, and John Brennan. BACK ROW: Bill Wagner, Fred Thorne, Ron Kimball, Gary Kassner, George Thoreson, Al Jurkonis, Jim Mahr. Glenn Tegrmeier, Raul Wolf, Gary Matthews, Bob Cortesi, Charles, and Charles Rizzo. varsity and j.v. both take third in d.p.v.I. Coach Marshall Stoner's varsity basketball squad came on strong in a late season push to win 8 out of its last 10 games and ended the year with a respectable 9-5 record. Overall, they ran up a 14-10 season rec- ord, second best in Willowbrook's history. Champion Glenbard East was the only team able to beat the Warriors twice, as the 'Brooks bounced back after early season losses to beat the powerful Morton West, Morton East, and West Leyden teams in the second round of DPVL play. Another trophy was added to the showcase when the Warriors won the Consolation Championship at the Rockford Holiday Tourney. After dropping their first game, the Warriors won easily over Dundee, Dixon, and Mundelein. Senior Captain Gary Matthews repeated last year's performance by making the first team of the All-DPVL squad. He also went one step further by earning a position on the Chicago American's All-Area team. Gary also led the team in scoring with 449 points Cincluding a 35-point effort against Downers Grove Southb, and assists with 169. He was elected MVP. by his teammates. Forward Gary Kassner received All-DPVL honorable mention and was leading rebounder with 208. Junior Guard Bob Cortesi led the team in free throw shooting with a fantastic 23-25 for 92170 and Sophomore George Thoreson had the highest average from the , , fl .th 5517 JUNIORAVARSITV BASKETBALL: FIRST ROW: Dave Harrington, Rich OOVW' 0' Durpetti, and Gil Golub. THIRD ROW: Fred Alston, Jim Field. team was 3 relatively young team- Three Tim Williams, Bill Fry. Bob DeWolf, and Clint Evans, Coach. sophomores were in the starting five. Be- cause of inexperience, the team lost four of its first six games. As the season progressed, however, much improvement was noted, the team winning 10 of the last 12 games. At the conclusion of the season the WB Junior Varsity displayed a fine brand of basketball and demonstrated that they will be a team to be watched in the future. The Junior Varsity players were Jeff Con- ner, Bill Fry, Jim Field, Tim Williams, Wally Streid, Fred Alston, Rich Durpetti, Larry Shissler, Gil Golub, Bob DeWolf, and Mark Skipworth.

Conference, outscoring their opponents 183 points to 33 points. With an excellent de- fense, it had five shutouts. Tom Hicks, Jim DeForest, and Rick Nishimura were the team's leading scorers. Of the three, Tom Hicks and Jim DeForest were elected Most Valuable Player and Captain respectively. Chuck Lindley was the line ace. sophs and frosh display future talent SOPHOMORE BASKETBALL: FIRST ROW: Gary Poulos, Mgr., Dave Paulson, Mike Sullivan and Gary Gobel, Mgr. SECOND ROW: Gary Kasper, George Lococo, John Hillan and Randy Lusk. THIRD ROW: Greg Kottner, Mgr., Jack Kehoe, Dan Kup- kowski Tim Gustafson, Dave Roberts and Coach A. Vande Merkt. NOT PIC- TURED Tom Mann and Mark Cummings. The 1967-68 sophomore basketball squad finished fourth in league competition with a record of six wins and six losses. Their overall record was six wins and ten losses. Letter win- ners were Mark Cummings, George Lococo, Gary Kasper, Dave Paulson, Dave Roberts, John Hil- lan-team captain, Tom Mann-elected best defensive player, and Randy Lusk, who finished the season as the leading scorer and best free throw shooter. Dave Roberts led the team in rebounds. Other members of the squad who contributed greatly to the team's success were Mike Sullivan, Tim Gustaveson, and Dan Kupkowski. The Freshmen A team had an overall record of 15-2. The two losses were to York and Glenbard East by two points each. The A team was also co-champions of the DPVL with a record of 11-1. They were also champions of the Hinsdale South holiday tournament. The Freshmen B team had an overall record of 12-2. They were champions of the DPVL with a record of 11-1.
