VARSITY CROSS COUNTRY: FIRST ROW: Paul Riedel, Russ Burr, Robert Krzemienski, Charles Gallagher, Jeff Kaiser, Scott Chapman, Steve Carvell, Jay Fugar, and Coach Jim Tyree: SECOND ROW: Eric Kobler, Mgr., John Thomas, Bob Arnt, John Andre, Dan Cheesman, Bill Biliskis, Rick Vuillaume, Bill DuPuis, and Randy BeMent, Mgr., THIRD ROW: Fred Thorne, Howard Butters, Tom Stauch, Bill Fry, Don Stob, John Fischer, Dave Rushton, Steve llg, and Maris Jurevics. harriers run their way down state For the second consecutive year, the Varsity Cross Country team swept the D.P.V.L. Conference with an 8-O record. lt was the first time in Willowbrook's cross country history that a team placed second in the District Meet, thus allowing it to participate in the state finals in which it took ninth place. Another first won by the team was the Addison Trail Invitational. Throughout the season, the team was led by Captain Bill Biliskis, who was the Conference Champ and placed third in the District Meet and fifth in the State Meet against 215 runners. He also set four course records duringthe season. The number-two man was sophomore Russ Burr. He earned a fourth in the Conference and set a sopho- more record for our course. - Dan Cheesman, a junior, was the number-three runner, Charles Gallagher, a senior, number four, Tom Jacobson, a sophomore, number five, Paul Riedel, a sophomore, number six, and John Fischer, a senior, num- ber seven. Other varsity letter winners included John Andre, Robert Arnt, Howard Butters, Bill DuPuis, Jay Fuger, Robert Krzmenski, John Pike, Fred Thorne, and Rick Vuillaume. The sophomores also came through with the Conference Championship with an 8-O record. Leading the sophs to victory was Paul Riedel, who won the conference meet. Jerry Kimbrell, Glen Bicicchi, and Greg Neff also helped lead the way. Other sophomore letter winners were Gary Butts, Martin Fugimoto, Steven Gehrke, Steven Moorhouse,Jeff Palmer, Garry Ruick, Mark Weaver, Tim Wetzel, and Tracy Williams. Going along with the tradition, the freshmen were also undefeated. Their victories included the 26-school Maine West and York lnvitationals. Congratulations to Coach Tyree and his team for a job well done. The coming years are expected to bring more and better honors.
