Robert Shamo, this year's orchestra has lived up to its aim to play the best orches- tradition of excellence tral literature possible. The excellent achievements of the orchestra were ex- emplified by the many school, social, and religious func- tions at which it performed. Christmas and spring con- certs and the State Music Contest were only a few of such performances. There are several levels of orchestra to fit the abilities of all students who wish to play instruments. For the novices, there is the beginning string class. The inter- mediate player may learn technique and gain experience in the cadet orchestra. For the veteran performer, the concert orchestra provides greater challenge and var- iety. Also there is the chamber orchestra, a small group of our most able performers. 32
