National Honor Society is an honorary organization dedicated to the recogni- tion of outstanding students. Candidates for membership are juniors who have attained at least a 3.25 grade average and seniors vvho have attained at least a 3.0 grade average. The final members are selected from the candidates by a vote of the faculty on four criteria: character, leadership, service,and scholarship. The final membership may consist of five percent of the junior class and fifteen percent of the senior class. Members elected in their junior year must gain a faculty vote of confidence in their senior yearto retain theirstatus. The Officers are elected by the incum- bent members at the beginning of the academic year.
