JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL: FRONTROIV' john Brennen, Manager, jeff Conner, Ron Kimball, Fred Thorne, Bill Wagner, Chick Rizzo, Randy Wells, Manager, and jim Petrowick, Manager, BA CK ROW' Ron Auch, Manager, Paul Wolf, Dave Miller, Glenn Tegtmeier, jim Mahr, Al Jurkonis, Gary Kassner, Bob King, and Mr. Clint Evans, Coach. unior Varsity, Co-Champions Coach Clint Evan's Junior Varsity quintet tied Glenbard East this year for the Conference championship. Their overall record was 15-3, with a Conference mark of 12-2. Most valuable player and team captain was Bill Wagner, who was ably assisted by Jeff Conner at the guard position. The team's big men, Al jurkonis and jim Mahr, did an excellent job of rebounding, as well as scoring. Gary Kassner, the other starter, saw some Varsity basketball action and did a fine job as well. Jed Conner and Jim Mahr, both only sophomores, have a bright basketball future ahead of them. Coach Evans and the entire junior-Varsity team can be congratulated for a fine season.

SOPHOMORE BASKETBALL: FRONT ROW' Bob Gates, Glen Grote, Dave Harrington, Bill Walkup, jeff Beilfuss, Rick Sitts, Gill Golub, and john Warren, BACK ROW: Bill Lyons, Larry Shissler, Bill Prentice, Bill Fry, Bob DeWolf, Vern Bissett, Bob Cortes, and john Hamann, Coach. Not Pictured: jim Ryan and Keith Kasper. The sophomore cagers, coached by Mr. Hamann, started off the season on the wrong foot by losing to Proviso East by a score of 25-65. Coming back the next week, they beat Downers Grove North in double overtime by a score of 59-58. After winning their next two Conference matches, they lost a non-Conference game to York, 47-83. They then went on to compile a Conference record of 5 wins and 5 losses and an overall record of 9 defeats and 7 victories. Bob Cortesi was the leading scorer with 168 points and a game average of 15.3. Jim Ryan was second with 150 points and a 10 point game average. He also had the most points scored in one game: 26. Bill Fry and Larry Shissler were the leading rebounders, while Gil Golub was the best free-throw shooter at 692. The captain and most valuable player was Bob Cortesi, and the most improved were Gil Golub and Larry Shissler. The freshmen had one of the best seasons in WB history: 14-2, with a Conference record of 11-0. Congratula- tions to Coach Long and his team. The B team, coached by Mr. VandeMerkt, had a season record of 11-2 and a Conference mark of 9-1.
