Freshmen Win Recognition The 1966 freshman football team had the largest turnout in Willowbrook history with 106 boys, 86 of whom stayed on the entire season. The squad was coached by Mr. Clint Evans, head freshman coach, Mr. Paul Kabarec, HBH team coach, and Mr. Sam Long, coach of the A team and the new MCU team, organized for the first time at Willowbrook. Willowbrook's freshman teams had excellent records. The UAW team had a record of 4 wins, 2 losses, and one tie. The BH team had an undefeated season, winning 6 and losing none. The C team had a successful season also, winning FRESHMAN B TEAM: FRONT ROW: Jerry Spry, Bill Tews, Tom Matherly, Steve Stein, Scott Andrews, Bill Barry, Richard Janes, Al Bran- denburg, Jeff Olsen, Pat McCombs, jim Carter, Larry Taylor, and Bob Berger: SECOND ROI45' jack Rylands, Bob Brant, David Kimball, Bob Anderson, Marty Russo,jeff Mayton, Fred Bedell, Gary Goebel, Ken Mor- 2, tying one, and losing none. The combined record comes to 12 wins, 2 losses, and 2 ties, an excellent and honorable record for the squad. The coaches felt that many of the boys displayed excellent potential and with a little more experience will bring Wil- lowbrook even more Conference championships. George Thorsen, Most Valuable Player, and jim Brooks were elected co-captains of the AU team.
