Gymnasts Take First in Conference The Varsity gymnastics team took their fourth straight title as the Des Plaines Valley League Conference champs. The team, coached by Mr. Iflland, posted their usual fine record. They ended the season with 10 wins, three losses, and one tie. In the Barrington Invitational, the team took a second. At the District meet held at Glenbard East, the team was edged out of second place by a mere half point. Many outstanding members received special honors. Ray jauch was voted most valuable member of the squad. Co-captains were Jim De Roche and Dan Less. Mike Eller, who works a number of apparatuses, was named most improved. jim De Roche, who had the highest point total for the season, placed seventh on high bar in the state meet. The prime objective of the sophomore gymnastics squad is to prepare its members for Varsity competition. During the past season, the sophomore squad, coached by Mr. Franklin, posted an overall record of twelve wins and three losses. They placed second in the Conference and third in the Wheaton Invitational. Bob Frey was undefeated on the side horse for the entire season. The varsity outlook is bright for the coming year with remaining members and new sophomores. The freshman team, coached by Mr. Drees, ended the year with a three and one record. 'B I -assi

VARSITY WRESTLING: FIRST ROW Paul Kabarec, Coach, Gary Cottone, Ron Lauer, Mark Kuntz, jim Skawski, Bill Porter, Les Novak, Bob Berger, and john Claypoolg SECOND ROW: Steve Carvell, Manager, Mike Bennett, jim Chromek, Art Tancl, Mike Centofante, Marv Wolf, john Boland, and Gerry Rylandsg THIRD ROW: Greg Thorriell, Manager, Bob Paulaitis, Ed jeffrey, jack Thoreson, john Tritt, Mick Wozniak, Stan Johnson, jim Grant, and Dennis Kowalski. Varsity Grapplers Cop Third The Varsity wrestling team this year experienced its first winning season. The team placed third in Conference with an overall record of 4-3-0. Willowbrook placed third in the Willowbrook Quadrangular, fourth in the Downers Grove Quadrangular, and second in the East Aurora Quadrangular. Mark Kuntz was elected to the all-Conference team. Les Novak was chosen team captain and most valuable wrestler. Les has had thirty-eight wins in three years, which places him second in all-time victories. Sophomore Gary Cottone placed third in District and won thirteen matches throughout the year. john Clay- pool was the first freshman ever to participate on the Varsity squad.
