MdVCZ7Z'WCg Bama' MID the roar of mighty drums, the flash of whirling batons, and the beat of a snappy march, the W.l-I.S. Marching Band steps off! The orange and black of new un- iforms, collegiate arm-swing, and the white blur of high- stepping bucks, make the band a colorful sight. Practicing an hour for each minute on the field, the band is one of the hardest working groups in the school. This year, for the first time in its history, the band attended a camp at Doylestown, Ohio. Here members of the band learn the steps essential to a good marching unit. Hours were spent learning to make formations. The band held a concert for a Doylestown club, practiced for the coming concert season and had a wonderful time. The chief characteristic of the band is its GO-GO- GO spirit. Special cheers and the important Mentor game helped maintain this spirit. Dance steps, props, and formations all kept the members busy during march- ing season. l6 Squad leaders, Terry Hemeyer, Bob Mellen, janet Steinbrenner, Dale Porter, jim Hartline. Linda Donovan, Doug Atkins kept the band on its toes . This summer the band plans to go to Florida to march in the Lions convention at Miami. They are pay- ing their own way by selling candy, holding a rock'n roll show, tax stamp drives, a fish fry, and many other money making ideas. They will stay at the Atlantic Towers hotel, swim at Miami Beach, march in the In- temational Lions Parade, and hold a concert for the Lions' Club. Special thanks go to hard-working directors, Mr Charles Ruddick, Miss jean Kelly, and Mr. Raymolid Rinaldi, officers jim Hartline, president, janet Stein- brenner, vice president, Peg Quinn, secretary. and treasurer, Anne Colle, and the Band Bo t by Mrs. Ben Yuki.
