To top off an unusually good sports year for the Rangers the Orange and Black cagers blnthely walked off with the Lake Shore League Champlonshup wlth a record of eleven out of twelve league games' At last the Willoughby fans were able to hold their heads up above the crowd Instead of down to the average level For the flrst time slnce the Lake Shore loop was organized ln l928 the Rangers came out of the melee on top of the heap Wlth veterans Ernle Slvak Wally Burger and Eddie Glavac returning for their fnnal season their fourth together things looked brnght from the beglnnlng True there were a few close shaves but Ernie s sterling backboard control was not surpassed by any other contender In the league As nf that was not enough Bug Gun also copped scorlng honors wnth a total of 303 pounts for twenty games Of course he had has off nughts as mnght be expected but on these nnghts Ed Glavac the other scoring threat seemed to be 'llc rn I 8 I EI , llll V ,ll lllll yi1..,- . gy- ,sr i V. f -is for Cheerleaders Who raise our spirits high And charge our gallant Ranger With the spirit DO or DIE Vc Football and basketball games are even more exciting with our rhythmic cheerleaders leading us in the various yells Without the cheerleaders our sports would be like a plana with no pianist The members of thus lively team are segregated into the varsity and reserve groups ln the varsity are seniors Marge Smith Janet Wells and Natalee Norris who have been actively participating rn cheerleading since they were freshmen Added to thus lust might have been Chuck Morgan but before the beginning of his senior year he was called unto the Navy He has done cheerleading at Navy football games and when home on leave he led cheering at pep rallies Dan Kohl us the only member of the stronger sex represented among the cheerleaders and he s the only regular cheerleader who will be with us next year The reserves who do their cheering when the reserve basketball teams are on the floor are Pat Raeburn and Jean Allyn CHEERLEADERS Pat Raeburn Dan Kohl Marge Smith Natalee Norris Janet Wells and Jeanne Allyn lO I ' I I l I ' I I I . .
