Our guns are raunchy our boots are raunchy. Everything is just a big mess of 'raunchinessf' Oh, well, they'll laugh the other way when we get our stripes. I finally got it. There's nothing in this man's army that you can avoid with less success than K. P.-and that doesn't stand tor King of the Privates, either. But I have one comfort. Wretched can't scott anymore. The lads in the Camouflage Division showed off their art in a stu-u-pendous display last P. M. Tsk, tsk, such woik. Maybe Kilmer was wrong about trees, huh? These guys can do anything. What's your order, gate? An oak tree, a weeping willow, rose arbor, gopher, just tell these embryo De Vincis. There was a booth where they drew our portraits, and a booth that advertised What ever you want-we got it. Leave it to Wretched not to pass up an open- ing like that. He promptly walked up and ordered Betty Grable. vzv ll l K-mf' P 'll .L l'm writing y'all from way out here in bivouac, which by the way is a civil- ized term for Alcatraz. More things happen out here-and they happen to me. Well, me and about a couple hundred other guys, For one thing, there's not a night goes by but the Stukas come over. Stukas are Army for mosquitoes. A horrible species of animal l might mention. lt is a com- mon beliet that they are organized by some diabolical leader and sent in squadrons to strafe poor G.l.'s. Never saw such brushin' and scrubbin' in all my born days. But it's in a just cause. The Wacs are having a Leap Day party over at their post, and we are the lucky gents. Gorshl l just had a thought. Wonder what the poor We gals in Dogpatch are doing this year around Sadie l-lawkin's Day. Every year J' lljl- r y - V A A .X is leap year in Dogpatch, but this autumn, the men have lett the mountains, ' fl ?3Jt f5 and the ladies have no one to chase.
