The industrial department turns out engineers, 'draftsmen, and carpenters. They can be found making various products for use in class plays and throughout the school. Eldon Everetts, Bill Hansen, Walt Kokesch and Neal Anderson wield metal, woodworking, and drafting with precision and accur- acy. They offer the same knowledge to boys interested in those fields and encourage originality in designs on tables, bookcases, and mechanical drawing. Gathered in the woodworking department we find industrial teachers Neal Anderson, St. Cloud Teachers, Walter Kokesch B. S. Mankato State, Eldon Everetts, B. S. Stout Institute and Bill Hansen, B. S. Stout Institute. In Various Walks Cf Life WHL THIS M Working in the machine shop we find Leonard Kedet, B. S. U. of Minnesota and Mike Cullen, B. S. U. of Minnesota. The agricultural department advises farmers of the future and produces parliamentary procedure teams who cop honors for Future Farmers of America. Mike Cullen oversees student home projects ranging from calf raising to p I a n t i n g alfalfa. These projects are the power be- hind the scenes of the county and state fairs. Leonard Kodet was add- ed tothe staff as a part time instruct- or of freshmen interested in farming as a career. Managing the ticket sales are Hattie Rosentreter, B. E. LaCrosse and Alchon Lucas. B. E. Mankato State Teachers. Physical education strives to b u i I d strong bodies through exercising and various games. The classes are the training bases for varsity football and basketball. Al Lucas coaches athletics and boys' intramurals. Hattie Rosen- treter heads the Girls' Athletic Assoc- iation and takes girls to neighboring towns for basketball g a m es in the Blue Goose . Both instructors com- bine forces to teach rhythms and square dancing to ninth and tenth graders.

Using the new sewing machines are home economics teachers Verne Holte, B. S. U. of North Dakotag Agnes Brandvold, B. A. St. Olaf and Alice Callanan, B. S. St. Catherines. The home economics department lends their talents to sponsoring the Future Homemakers of America. They sent delegates to the national convention last summer. Agnes Brandvold teach- es girls how to sew a time seam and how to varnish cabinets. Alice Call- anan, new to Willmar this year, in- structs the frosh in the culinary arts. Verne Holte molds the junior highers into homemakers of the future. Molders Of Creative Ability Commercial department produces short- hand experts and also prepares students for lite vocations on the outside as of- fice clerks and bookkeepers. The teachers guide Future Business Leaders of America on the stepping stone to the world of business. The seniors learn the rudiments of typing in noon hour class via the starvation diet. Evelyn Sandie and Edith Johnson present the typists with small tests to keep them on their toes. Playing a duet we find music teachers Victor Olsen, M. M. North- western llniversitv and Cora Saver, B. M. MacPhail. 0.1.1 .,.- . Eugene Fox, B. S. U. of Minnesota uses the typewriter as Evelyn Sandie, B. S. North Dakota State and Edith Johnson, B. A. North Dakota State, looks on with interest. Music takes up a large portion of our curricular and extra curricular time. Vic- tor Olsen leads the Greyhound travelling band and dreams up impossible ideas for marching formations. He lends a helping hand with homework for over- burdened band players plus helping out the orchestra members. The magazine sales campaign is also his responsibility. Cora Saver, new to the halls of WHS, 'tells her various vocal groups to open their mouths , also discovers Enrico Carusos and Jenny Linds from chorus. 12

Coaches Howard Iverson and Bill Hansen pause for a moment in their busy schedule. Nurse Rosa Schladweiler, B. S. U. of Minnesota, looks through her Gles, Brings The School To Fame Very essential to Willmar high school is our nurse. The chief iodine swabber and bandager is fully in charge of our sick beds. She is handy with the thermo- meter and helps young hopeful assist- ants on their way toward a career in the field of nursing. Another of WHS's es- sentials is our speech clinicianist who helps those who have trouble with the pronunciation of their r's, l's and s's. She is always patient and willing to help. Those who have the ability to draw or paint belong in the art department. They are the producers of many beautiful paintings and drawings, their products may be seen at the County Fair. Miss Bauer is always busy helping with the scenery for our class plays. The coaches are the leaders in baseball, basketball, football, wrestling, tumbling, tennis and golf. What would we do without them? They call the plays that bring our teams to the top. Giving an audiometer test is speech clinician Ruth Comme Bauer' B, A, Hamline, spends spare time using Miller, B. A. Augustana. her artistic ability.
