NEW HANOVER COUNTY Williston Senior High School is recognized through¬ out the Nation and even in foreign countries as one of the out¬ standing secondary schools of our State. Visitors from other nations as well as our own have made special trips to make a study of its program and facilities. Very few schools offer as wide a course of study as Williston. The universal com¬ ments on the organization, conduct and spirit of the pupils, have been most favorable. Graduates entering the business world are increasing year by year and proving highly suc¬ cessful to their employers. As the days go by, the increased contribution this High School is making towards the develop¬ ment of New Hanover County and the State of North Carolina, is realized more and more. You are to be congratulated upon another splendid year ' s work. H. M. Roland Superintendent of Schools Mr. H. M. ROLAND, Superintendent Mr. J. W. GRISE, Ass ' t. Supt. May I offer you, the graduating class of 1955, my sin¬ cere congratulations. You are graduating in an era of great opportunities for service to your state and Nation. It is an era of change, of uncertainties, and of a clash of ideologies among the peoples of the world. It is a period in the history of our nation which calls for people with cool heads andwarm hearts, with clear constructive thinking and moderation of action. I feel that the training you have had under the faculty of your school has prepared you to meet these problems and become a useful citizen of the greatest nation in the world. May you so work and so act in the , years ahead that you will always, and at all times reflect credit upon your Alma Mater -- Wil¬ liston Senior High. J. W. Grise

It affords me much pleasure to congratulate you, the class of 1955, for making possible the 1955 volume of the Willistonian. There can be no doubt that the contacts and experiences that you have had in bringing this volume to completion have been worthwhile, and that the time and effort spent in its production will always be cherished by you as the happiest moments of your high school career. May I wish all the members of the class of 1955 the highest degree of success possible, and may all of you strive to give the best that you have back to your community and country in service and devotion.
