BOYS STATE ' A group of Williston boys embarked on an exciting adventure on June 19, l955. They arrived in Fargo, North Dakota where four-hundred and thirty-two boys of the state gathered to hold a small scale state legislature. Soon after they arrived, they were divided into cities by the officials of Boys State. The schedule of activities was directed by a staff of forty men. The week's activities included participation in the many phases of governmental work. Some of these were the nomination of electorial bodies, competition for county offices between the Federalists and Nationalists,and setting up party platforms. As a part of the governmental program, the Staters were shown how the different offices functioned if they were to actually govern North Dakota As a final touch to their governmental study they elected a governor who presided over the miniature state of North Dakota On Sunday the sessions closed and a tired but better informed group of boys arrived home 8
