1956 COYOTES The Coyotes hadayear full of action. At the Christmas Tournament they defeated Minot to take the first place trophy. In March they traveled to Bismarck for the Western Division Tournament. They defeated both Minot and Bismarck. That left St. Mary's and Williston to battle it out for first place. St. Mary's edged out Williston 59-56. The following week the Coyotes and their fans left for the State Tournament at Minot where they encountered tough luck in their opening games withGrafton and Far- go. Even though the Coyotes were disappointed in their tournament hopes, sports fans will long remem- ber Coach Hendrickson and his 1956 Coyotes. ...,.

.d1' ROW 1: Garvin Mengel, Keith Bjerke, Duane Huss, Jack Anderson, Vincent Cartwright, ROW Ronnie Erdmann, Dick Wilkie, Jerome Hanson, Richard Stutsrud, Mike Harris, Hockey, which claims the interest of a large num- ber of high school students, is a comparatively new sport in Williston. A team consists of six players--goalie, right and left defense, right and left wing, and center. Substi- tutions are frequent. A recommended playing area is ZOO feet long and 85 feet wide with rounded corners. The game is divided into three Z0-minute periods with 10-minute rest between. ln case of a tie, one overtime 10-minute period is played.
