BCYS' STATE Being called to the principal's office brings a feeling of dread into one's heart, but being asked to go to Boys' State has a feeling of elation for one. We arrived in Fargo on Sunday and were ushered aboard a bus to the NDAC cam- pus. Monday we got acquainted. But Tuesday we held our party caucuses and the cities elected representatives and they elected members to the state convention. Wednesday the campaign began in earnest. We were in caucus again, this time to elect city and county officials. Thursday the Senate and House were in session, new laws were passed, the annual court trial began, and the police department began functioning. The Congress continued in session and the trial proceeded on Friday. Saturday we began to close the Congress and the trial was com- pleted. In the evening the Gov- ernor's Ball was held until mid- night. Sunday we bade our new ac- quaintances good-by. GIRLS' STATE Flickertail Girls' State met at the Univer- sity of North Dakota last June 13-20. Each day was packed with things to learn and do, but there was always something special to remember each day by. Friday, June 13, was taken up with the excitement of arrival, finding our home for the week, getting acquainted with our room- mates and the girls across the hall. Saturday, June 14, saw the real beginning of our busy days, learning about the govern- ment. Sunday, June 15, found every girl attending church and a reception for the President of the University was held in the afternoon. Monday, June 16, was the day of the two political party conventions for choosing candi- dates for the state offices. Campaigning began after the meeting. Tuesday, June 17, was election day. That night was the annual fun night. Wednesday, June 18, was the inauguration day. Thursday, June 19, we graduated from Girls' State and the North Dakota Governor presented us with our diplomas. Friday, June 20, was our last day. Now we think back on Girls' State remembering the things we learned and the fun we had there.
