The band has provided much enjoyment to us through the many concerts and programs that have been presented throughout the year. We especially want to extend our appreciation for your work with the organization that makes every football and basketball game a success --the Pep Band. No game or pep assembly would be complete with- out it. This dedication is, therefore, our special way of saying, 'Thank you, Mr. Syverson. 3 . yas? LEONARD T. HAVIG EDGAR T. THE SCOOP CN THE SENIORS Four years of high school have flown fast. We've reached our goal. AT LAST! ! ! But we leave happy memories of our 1950 Freshman Frolic with Ma and Pa in Love, Money and the Cider Still, and our sophomore year highlighted by the Sophomore Stag. Jun- ior year found us working fast and furious for a suc- cessful Prom where we waltzed to Moonlight Bay. With three years of dances, class meetings, games, and school books, we entered our senior year with caps and gowns in mind. PATRICIA ANDERSON Pat Here we go into the wide blue yonder ..... We elected Teddy Jo Paulson, president, Alan Olson, vice- president, Vira Erickson, secretary, Carol Rosenvald, treasurer, and Bill Maloney, sergeant-at-arms. We held our Freshman Frolic on March 9 with everyone enjoying themselves. Under Miss Moe's wing, we elected Ed Horab as ruler, Vernon Bloom as his able assistant, Barbara Bosh holding the pen, Willie Rossland, counting all our money, and Miss Moe keeping order. On November 9 we had our Sophomore Stag and it was a huge success. Now as juniors Willie Rossland is president, Nyla Anseth is vice-president, George Stahl is secretary, Jack Heller is treasurer, and Gary Johnson is sergeant- at-arms. Our Miss Brooks, the class play, was held November 20 and 21. The highlight of the year was Jun- ior and Senior Banquet and Prom which was held April 9 and 10, respectively. We are looking forward to our senior year with much enthusiasm. 28 iff j A-1 ,A . N Q Q xg X is X 4 R' s i Lester Albert Jerome Ba kke .ENC W. ' 'L 5 . 'iff s '- fs. is , A Fi X Q Rx? Not only did we have a perfect record in Conference games under his guidance during the season. but also the COYOTES gained the co- title as StateChampions with Shan- ley of Fargo. This was a big thrill for various reasons but mainly be- cause three years before we had a season without a win. Soon after gaining the Championship, the As- sociated Press poll declared our Coach Pederson as Coach of the Year. and Garvin Stevens as All- American Guard. Garvin is a senior this year. l-le entered Williston High in his junior year. Both these two years, Garv has been playing varsity basketball and football. The festivities began with a star-studded coronation program, emceed by Warren Nelson. Mr. Mark. our principal, placed the crown on Miss Nyla Goar, who was chosen queen from five candidates. One of the highlights of the 1952 homecoming was the beautiful parade, which consists of floats sponsored by various school organizations and classes. Then there was the game where we Shanghaied the Saints by the score of 25-14. The climax of the celebration was reached with the Queen's Ball in the high school auditorium. In the upper left corner we find the Student Council float that drove the Queen and her attendants in the parade. ln the upper rightthe first place float which was entered by thc freshman. We arrived in Fargo on Sunday and were ushered aboard a bus to the NDAC cam- pus. Monday we got acquainted. But Tuesday we held our party caucuses and the cities elected representatives and they elected members to the state convention. Wednesday the campaign began in earnest. We were in caucus again, this time to elect city and county officials. Thursday the Senate and House were in session, new laws were passed, the annual court trial began, and the police department began functioning. The Congress continued in session and the trial proceeded on Friday. Saturday we began to close the Congress and the trial was com- pleted. In the evening the Gov- ernor's Ball was held until mid- night. Sunday we bade our new ac- quaintances good-by. GIRLS' STATE Flickertail Girls' State met at the Univer- sity of North Dakota last June 13-20. Each day was packed with things to learn and do, but there was always something special to remember each day by. Friday, June 13, was taken up with the excitement of arrival, finding our home for the week, getting acquainted with our room- mates and the girls across the hall. Saturday, June 14, saw the real beginning of our busy days, learning about the govern- ment. Sunday, June 15, found every girl attending church and a reception for the President of the University was held in the afternoon. Monday, June 16, was the day of the two political party conventions for choosing candi- dates for the state offices. Campaigning began after the meeting. Tuesday, June 17, was election day. That night was the annual fun night. Wednesday, June 18, was the inauguration day. Thursday, June 19, we graduated from Girls' State and the North Dakota Governor presented us with our diplomas. Friday, June 20, was our last day. Now we think back on Girls' State remembering the things we learned and the fun we had there.
