McKenzie, STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council is the student governing body of the high school. The duties of the Council include assisting with such outside activities as: athletic events, homecoming, school dances and parties. It provides the general welfare of the student body. Members of Student Council are: representatives from each class of senior high school, Band, GAA, W Club, Choir, FFA, FHA, Playmakers, Latin Club, Quill 8: Scroll, and Book- store. T E E N Carmen, Kay, George, Chuck, and Kitty ln the past year many changes have taken place in our Teen Canteen set-up. The rnost important change was the new building we received for our own use, through the work of the Williston Recrea- tion Director. With the opening of the new building, Canteen became more popular than ever with more than ZOO teen-agers using the facilities each time Can- teen was held. Dancing, ping-pong, reading, and playing cards were the most popular activities dur- ing the year. The Canteen officers, who have done an ad- mirable job,this year were George Wall, President, Carmen Peterson, Vice-president, Litty O'Keefe, C A N T E E N Secretaryg and Kay John- son, Treasurer. Chuck Stone, Williston's new Re- creation Director, served as Advisor. By far the most pop- ular spot in the Canteen this year was the kitchen, which served not only as a place to cool and serve food, but as a gathering place for hungry people to nibble and organize bull sessions. Did you know that raw potatoes hold a strange facination for a great many Canteen mem- bers? Things to remember: the night the kitchen key disappeared, the night that someone turned out the lights .... lf next year's officers don't do another thing, it is hoped they keep the lights burning. Chuck doesn't seem to appreciate the dark. 78
