Students Get Recognition There were many ways during the year for students to get in- volved and catch the Firebird Spirit and be recognized. The annual magazine sale fun- draising drive in September pro- vided several opportunities. All students who reached a set goal were entitled to attend a pizza party. The top-selling homeroom got to have an ice cream party. Mrs. Jo Ann Wolf's homeroom stu- dents turned out to be the win- ners. Outstanding spellers from ev- ery English class received recog- nition in the spelling bee. For the second year in a row, 8th grader Patti Sturr was the winner. Students of the month from each grade level are also select- ed every month. Mrs. Donna Col- lins was in charge of the student of the month committee. She said, The students that have won are very fine students and they definitely deserved to be recognized. Another award was the l'm ln- volved sticker. Every week dif- ferent students were chosen by their teachers for making positive contributions to the school. Those chosen got to go to the front of the lunch line and got out of last period five minutes early for the week. At Valentine's time royalty was chosen for the Valentine dance. The activity was a fundraising ac- tivity for the Publications staff. Each penny collected counted as one vote. Winners were: Rena McCullough, queen: Dustin Coombs, king: Jeana Davis, 8th grade prince: Monique Van Horn, 8th grade princess: Jay Vol- quardsen, 8th grade prince: Mon- ique Van l-lorn, 7th grade prin- cess: and Kregg Rogers, 7th grade prince. fl ABOVE: Kelli Ankrom, Karin Boyle, Jennifer Heather Catmull, Mrs. Wolfe and enjoy the Janusz, and Salina Sanders dig in at the ice cream party their homeroom won for magazine sale pizza party.
