Linda Collier - Secretary Debbie Carter - Adapative P.E.Counselor MISS CAROGILL RETIRES AFTER 48 YEARS OF SERVICE TO WISD THANK YOU DOT - WE LOVE YOU. On an early September morning in 1936 a young lady walked up to the second floor of the elementary school building in Willis, and entered the auditorium. lust to the right of the stage was a small office with a hand made door. In the office was a desk, a chair and a wooden cabinet. She sat down and looked around the small office and cleaned the desk. Miss Dorothy Cargill was ready to go to work. On August 31, 1984, Miss Dorothy Cargill, after forty-eight years with the Willis Independent School District as Secretary to the Superintendent and much later supervisor of payroll and retirement accounts, she walked out into the world of retirement. The faculty and staff now numbers almost as many as the student body did in the late 1930's. But through it all, Miss Dorothy Cargill kept her desk clean . . . and her work done. Segregation ended . . . a new era began, and Miss Cargill continued to serve. And now, what about retirement? What will you do Miss Dorothy? She replies very honestly, Well, one thing I am going to have to learn to rest . . . it seems that in the past I never had time to learn the rest . . . and I am just going to have to learn to rest . . . and I am just going to have to learn to rest and take life easy. Thank you Dot - We love you. 215
