T If DIDECTUIQS THAT MADE IT LI. HADDEN!!! Wendy Marquart, of Universal Ci- ty, Texas, is in her first year as the Director of Music for Willis Indepen- dent School District. She has been a band director in Willis for six years and is serving her second year as director of the symphonic band. Prior to coming to Willis, Miss Mar- quart taught for one year in Sealy, Texas. Miss Marquart received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Sam Houston State University in 1978. Her memberships include the Texas Music Educators Associa- tion, Texas Bandmasters Associa- tion, National Associaton of lazz Educators, Association of Texas Pro- fessional Educators, Sigma Alpha Iota, and Tau Beta Sigma. lonathan Kelly is in his third year with the Willis Music Department. His previous teaching experience includes three years as director at Union Hill and two years in Splendora. Mr. Kelly is a graduate of Spring Branch High School in Houston and holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. Member- ships include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, National Association of Military Marching Bands, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. ierald Fagan, a native of Marshall, Texas is in his first year with Willis ools. He received his Bachelor of Music Degree in 1964 and Master of Arts gree in 1970 from Stephen F. Austin University. lr. Fagan has taught in Texas public schools for the past twenty-one years. has also been active as an adjudicator and clinician. MAIQCH NG BAND UTSTANIID G I 1984-1985 4 x L A . The Willis High School Marching Band spent many hours of hard work preparing to perform at football games and at Contest. They made a First Division at Marching Contest in November. In May they marched at Mayfest in Brehnam and received Outstanding Marching Band and First in Marching Contest. Congratulations Band on a job well done!

V.0.E. at .l'I.S. 84-85 ., Q OEA holds monthly club meeting to discuss future activities. Last October OEA entered a decorated vehicle in the 1984 homecoming parade. Last November OEA held their annual food donation drive. The food collected was given to needy families for Thanksgiving. OEA members also contributed money to buy a family a turkey. OEA had a Christmas party at Robin Durdin's house. On February 2, 1985 OEA went to district contest at Conroe area vocational school. OEA then attended the state contest in Austin. In April they also hope to attend the na- tional contest in Houston. Every year in May OEA hold their Big Sister! Little Sister dinner party. Every year OEA sells Tom Watt show cases to raise money for the club. This year OEA sold 53,207.39 in profit. Students learned valuable office skills in OEA. Sponsor Ms. Pat Calfee.
