S M HDNIC BAND NS FIIQST NSTATE 19855 M HDNIC BAND The Willis High School band began a tradition of winning under the direction of former Music Director, lohnny Bankston. ln keeping with the stride of that tradition, W.H.S. Symphonic Band was named the Best 3A Band in the State of Texas. The Band, now under the Baton of Ms. Marquart, made W.H.S. proud when they received honors luly 29th in San Antonio at the Texas Band Master Association Convention. The Willis High School Symphonic Band competed against fifteen other 3A Bands throughout the State and received the honor of the number one 3A Band in Texas. 1984-85 DEBATE SQUAD PLACES 3rd IN DISTRICT v'r 1984-85 DEBATE TEAM Members included R. lones, S. Storkel, E. Stapper, T. Woods, M. McGIothern, and R. Baker. The 1984-85 Debate Squad debated in District Competition and sent one team to regional. This year Lincoln-Douglas Debate was added to the state competition. Willis had 3 teams in both areas - Standard and Lincoln-Douglas. MAIQCH NG BAND UTSTANIID G I 1984-1985 4 x L A . The Willis High School Marching Band spent many hours of hard work preparing to perform at football games and at Contest. They made a First Division at Marching Contest in November. In May they marched at Mayfest in Brehnam and received Outstanding Marching Band and First in Marching Contest. Congratulations Band on a job well done!
