These girls faithfully studied and performed pre cision marches They bras ed all kinds of weather marching at half time for all home football gimes and in village parades Many of their routines pantomimed familiar songs or stories about school life As the echo of the last drum roll of the season died away the girls began to plan for a banquet for all marching units Left right left right column half left march' Such commands were often heard on the football fleld after school in preparation for the half-time demon- strations given by the marching band at home football marching band clrill team Mrs Opperman Adxisor games Marches clever stunts and formations made up the program. During the games they played school pep songs as the crowd joined them singing our boys on to victory. The cheerleaders found the group loud-voiced and enthusiastic as well as musically talented.

During many close games with neighboring schools we held our opponents scoreless, but never seemed to get the ball over the goal line. Z 5 ' 4 Z .. 7 0 24 Ik -if Q X mojorertes A flashing baton, a spritely step, a swishing skirt and a winning smile denoted each majorette as she marched down the field ahead of the band at the halftime of home football games and in parades during all kinds of weather. It takes nimble fingers, concentrated practice and a lot of nerve to flip a baton around, knowing that the crowd is just waiting to see one dropped. B.
