We placed 3 athletes in the United States Eastern Championships fPrinceton Uni- versityj. The team had an outstanding season. 311245333 I am extremely optimistic about the oncoming track season. This will be my first opportunity as a head coach and I look forward to the challenge with a great deal of enthusiasm. We have an excellent team this year which contains many athletes of proven ability. Senior Derek Frazier was one of the outstanding all around weightmen in the area a year ago. Derek should prove even stronger this season. Warren Williams a sprinter came on very strong last year and the coaching staff is expecting Warren s senior year to be truely outstanding. We have a fine hurdler returning from last year is senior Mike Bell. Senior Harold McMurtrey school record holder in the highjump should keep us in good shape as far as the jumps are concerned. John Marino a returning junior was one of continues to improve John could prove to be unstopable in the future. Other athletes returning from last years squad who should help us a great deal are: Bill Barnett Javilin' Mike Bull Sprints' and Carl Allar shot put. I have no doubt that we should be extremely competitive in the 1978 season. We will certainly face stiff competition all the way through our schedule particularly from teams like Gateway Clear- view and Eastern. -Coach Keith Land , , , , , , , , the top middle distance runners in the area as a sophomore. MAKING MINDS MGVE 4? n f : WW The Many Faces Of Cur Faculty I wish to commend the Totem Staff of 1978 for the time and effort put forth in publishing the Yearbook. I am sure that in the years to come this book will help bring back memories of the many fine experiences you had while attending Williamstown High School. Good Luck to the Class of '78, Roger Cassi Principal Mr. Ruch comments that an average day for him is totally hectic. He has gained much ex- perience in the field of handwrit- ing analysis and parental notes. Men Who Move The Students Just as People in Motion is the theme of your yearbook, we expect you to be People in Mo- tion when you leave W.H.S. and go out into the world. Challenge the unknown! Work hard and create your own oppor- tunities! George Ruch William Howie Leading Our Schools . Ben Timberman bb ff Peggy Farris Steven Ball - ,A Frederick Straub Jr. Benjamin Timberman, Superintendent 'Pi Martin Caulfield Dorothy Friess This theme means to me, students in motion. From the time the student enter WHS to the time they leave there is perpetual motion. The class of 78 is just that. As I prepare this, the football team is 3-0, the first time in many years, they are in motion. I hope this motion is perpetual. The class of 78', will become people in motion. They will continue their movement, higher education, professional schools the skilled trades. Each graduating class forges further ahead than the previous one. The migration to all parts of the country will continue, people in motion are these United States. The class of 78 people of Williamstown, are in motion. F.
