Oak Remembers The first graduate of the Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing, then called the Williamsport Hospital train- ing School for Nurses, was Alta J. King. She received her diploma in 1 884. In 1 889, there were only seven graduates compared to today ' s thirty-six graduates. The first male graduate was Dave Ranck. As we approach the end of our nursing education, we take the time to recognize our families and friends for the love and support they have given us over the past three years. Their patience and understanding when we wanted to be with them but had to study showed us that they were be- hind us. The many phone calls we made and letters we sent that were answered with Hang in there — we know you can do it. kept us strug- gling to make it through another year. Now as we prepare to begin our nursing careers, we would like to thank all of you and let you know that we couldn ' t have made it without you.

The early uniform was ankle length with ruffles and starched removable collar, but this was changed in 1948 to a blue and white pinafore with a starched two piece apron.
