The Class of 1981 is proud to dedicate The Oak to Mrs. Shirley Young Some people know the way to make each day seem more worthwhile. They seem to catch the sunshine and wear it in their smile. They ' re kind and understand- ing, loving and sincere, ready with a com- pliment or friendly word of cheer. They truly take interest in everything you do. You can go to them with problems and they ' ll always see you through. They give with generosity that never seems to end. They know the wonderful secret of how to be a friend. Amanda Bradley From our first week in school we the class of 1981 came to know Mrs. Shirley Young. We shared so many experiences with her both elating and frustrating. Mrs. Young, known as Mom to us all is the special kind of teacher that we learned so much from. She gave so much of herself, incorporating patience, love and understanding into her lectures and floor work. We in return gained confi- dence in ourselves and wanted to learn more. She became close to us not only as an instructor but as a dear friend. We want to extend our thanks to her for sup- porting us, having faith in our ability and helping us reach our goals.

Recognition ' . ' ' . ' ' ■ ' -:: Dear Mom, Dad and Loved Ones, We ' ve waited three years to write this fetter and recognize you for your hefp in making our dream of becoming a Nurse possible. - Beginning as a freshman, we needed more than determination to continue, the never ending days at Lycoming College, the chaotic reisidence life and the petrifying encounter of the first clinical day — the start of our Nursing Career. Through ail of these, you gave us your love, prayers and support. We realize how important; you were to us and all that you did for us. When we were confused and afraid, you understood and made us under- stand our fears. There were times we feft insecure and wondered whether we could ever become that real nurse. It seemed that as the student nurse, we had others doubting us; which dampened our self confidence. You reasurred us that time, education and experience would give us the qualities we needed to become a professional. You renewed our hopes; allowing us to continue on. Last, but not least, your love for us never failed. We knew that you were beside us each moment. It seemed you struggled with us through the unending trials. At Graduation, we are proud and we know you are too. This special moment has finally arrived. We would like to thank you for everything, because without you we could not have succeeded. f Love Always, Your Graduate Nurse
