ll Challenge At the conclusion of a Friday afternoon pep rally, the student body begins a mass exodus from the gymnasium. Wa fn p ,aa if .F s The physical aspect of school life is as important as the academic. For students to have healthy minds, healthy bodies must be developed. All students en- gage in physical education classes in which body conditioning, coordination, and sportsmanship are stressed. Games, used to develop these skills, provide a physical outlet for each student. Basketball, volley- ball, archery, gymnastics, football, wrestling, and square dancing are the activities and sports in which students participate during the year. Students unable to participate in the regular physical education pro- gram attend adapted or special classes. Our school, located in District Four of the Pennsylvania Inter- scholastic Athletic Association, competes with neigh- boring schools in interscholastic sports. The sports represented include football, basketball, wrestling, tennis, golf, track, and cross country. Besides the physical effort involved in sports, a certain amount of physical effort is also required to survive at WAHS. Students struggle through crowded halls to reach classes on time and many avoid the cramped cafeteria at lunchtime. Holding up traffic for blocks, more than two thousand students file slow- ly into the gymnasium for pep rallies, but once inside, they show tremendous school spirit. rf
