PURE CRD Throughout life there are many choices and deci- sions that we must make. Robert Frost expressed it like this in his poem i'The Road Not Takenmz Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. We of the 1968 LA MEMOIRE editorial staff feel that the main purpose of the school is to help the student to make the right choice in life, to choose the right road. This is the purpose of courses of study, the real purpose behind extracurricular activities, and the theme for our yearbook. We have chosen a symbol for directions to strengthen this theme. It could be a weather vane or a compass or a directional sign of diverging roads. Wlizttever you choose it to be, it will mean something different to every student. For some it will be the sign of a deliberate choice, a steady symbol that has been a goal for many years. For others it will be the sign of confusion, a whirlpool wind blowing our weather vane in circles as is the case with some students. Some may think of the sign as a compass to guide them back to the proper direction if they should waver from the choice they have made. In whatever category each student fits, the school tries to start him in the right direction and will help him in making decisions. In the pages of this book we have tried to capture decisions being made and the help that the school oHers. The basic cover design and symbol of direction, by David Evanchik, Class of 1968, emphasize the various directions the members of the graduating class will take.
