OREWORD Like the pioneers of l849, we of the class of 1949 face an opportunity and a challenge. Though our fortune today is in education rather than gold, the requisites for success are similar to those which the Hforty-niners faced. In order to reach California and wealth, they faced many hardships such as deserts and mountains. Our deserts are time and our mountains are study, but throughout our years of high school we have drawn closer and closer to our HCalifornia . The land frontiers have disappeared, but the economic and scientific frontiers are bigger and wider than ever. We must become strong in body, mind, and spirit if we are to successfully face the world of tomorrow. It is in this spirit that 'we present this book as a portrayal of our final preparation in our search for Hgoldn.
