of housing and the Recreation Center, works with the calendar committee, curriculum committee, budget committee, etc. Among Mr. Bowes' list of accomplishments at WACC, the most outstanding are: communicating channels from his office with the students, working with student loans, publishing the Daily Crier Can announcement sheet which informs the students of all the activities at WACCJ, setting-up of the student ID system, and being instrumental in the introduction and organization of the yearbook. Mr. Bowes is married to the former Barbara Koch of Williamsport and is the father of two sons, Steven and James. Because of his sincere dedication to the student body of WACC, we, the Montage staff, respectfully dedicate this 1971 edition to Mr. Frank J. Bowes, Director of Student Affairs. Mr. Bowes goes over some problems with Tim Spickler, year- book editor.

ff' meer .ai M 'i Mr. Frank Bowes, Head of Student Affairs. Dedication Intelligence, dignity and integrity are a few of the many virtues possessed by Mr. Frank J. Bowes, Direc- tor of Student Affairs. With a background of experi- ence in working with young people, he is at home in his present position. Upon graduation from the Lock Haven High School in 1945, he enlisted in the Navy and served on a naval destroyer until the end of World War II. In 1956, he graduated from the Lock Haven State Teachers College with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Prior to that time, he was employed in various posi- tions: an office manager in a large resort in Phoenix, Arizona, a statistician for the Pennsylvania Gas and Water Company in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, an airport attendant at the Piper Aircraft Corporation, and the recreational director for the Lock Haven School District. Mr. Bowes began his teaching career in the Willams- port High School where he taught for twelve years, during which time he worked on his Master's Degree and completed it in 1963. He continued teaching in the same school until 1967 when he joined WACC to become Director of Student Affairs. Mr. Bowes has always had an interest in young people. While a young boy, he served on the staff at Camp Kline where he received an Eagle Scout Badge. Later, he ofticiated as an advisor for the Explorer Scouts and was also on the Board of Directors in the Scouting Program. For ten years he served as Director of the Teen Center in Lock Haven. He presently is a member of the Lycoming Safety Committee and is a board member of I.S.C.A.L.C. Clnternational Students Council As- sociation of Lycoming Countyl. His duties as the Director of Student Affairs are many: he is coordinator of student activities, clubs, fraterni- ties, organizations, bulletin board information and bloodmobile programs, chairman of Open House, Parents' Day, Commencement, Orientation, Convoca- tion and Student Disciplinary Committee, advisor to the Student Government Association, International Students and student financial aid assistanceg director
