SENIOR HISTGRY In the fall of 1955 we entered our freshman year exctted at the prospect of becommg mature members of the seruor hrgh We soon dxscovered however that the work was just as hard tl' not harder and that bemg a freshman wasn't really too dlfferent from betng an etghth grader In Englrsh we tackled Charles Dlckens ' Great Expectatrons Many of us sweated over each page of that book but we found ll opened the doors to adult hterature and was well worth whlle. Those of us takmg a language struggled over vocabu lanes and stumbled through translatrons Thelearmng process was renewed and rejuvenated, maybe never agatn to stop durmg the summer vacauons Mr Rash s Crt. Ed class was ako most znteresung, Remem ber the warfare w1th water ptstols and rubber bands? That year wxth Walter Broughton as our presrdent we trted to sell sweat shrrts and tr1ed to sell sweat slurts and trted to sell sweat shrrts We began to wonder 1f the name sweat shlrt wasn't a lrttle arnbtguous Our sophomore year was more of a success fmanctally wrth Mrchele Engleson as prestdent We der1ved a lot of pleasure and wehopethe rest of the school dld from a Mrnstrel Show produced by our class featurmg such show stoppers as Alton Mayen and h1s qumtet slngtng 'Paper Doll F red Walvoord and Ron Bouchard rn The Preacher and the Bear and Mrchele Engleson and Brenda Berger tn a Charleston. Our classes however though not as much fun gave us somethtng more lastmg. ln Enghsh we agam came across a classtc Shakespeare s .Tuhus Caesar' and we dtscovered that rt contamed somethtng of value for each of us though wr1tten many years ago ln Ctt Ed. we faced our frrst regents wlth Mr Tat lock and wrth hts help managed to pass He then handed us over to M1ss Parker We started our excmng Juruor year w1thM1ssZ1mmerman and Mr Ptddock advtsmg us and John Mllls as presrdent In M1ss Parker s capable hands we started our two year Amertcan hlstory course Wtth lectures and 1nstruct1ons rn outlrrung and wrrung essays we butlt a frrm foundation for the regents whlle learnmg of our herttage. InEngl1sh we came upon our thrrd year Enghsh regents How we apprectated the work we had had on vocabulary and sentence structure and those Ideas of the Week we had thought so much work Around the World as our theme. The J umor Seruor Banquet and Prom Ln .T une wrll be remembered for much hard work and planmng. Our theme, Ortental Gardens was carned out at both the banquet and the dance afterward Many of us who helped decorate, however almost rtussed the banquet because of workmg on last rmnute detalls rn the gym. We were exctted at the thought of putung on our jumor play Around the World Ill 80 Days Every thmg seemed to go pretty well except at dress rehearsal when a sktrt was lost. Of course, there was much excxtement when our class rmgs arnved and we were elasstfred Jumors We held many dances durtng theyear wtth our talkmg scarecrow at the Halloween Dance and record auctxonmg at our F M.R record hops We also held two paper drxves and sold statronery and Wllhamson Central School penctls We all had fun at our annual sprmg DICIIIC at Roseland Park The htghhghts of th1s year were probably the numerous lulanous book reports tn Mr Connors Enghsh classes but tt all came out m the end Perhaps many burdens of our semor year fellon the shoulders of our loyal advrsers M1ss Zlmrnerman and Mrss Landry Much work was done by John Mills presrdent Walter Broughton, vrce presrdent Donna F atrbanks secretary and Carol Crellm, treasurer Everyone was mterested rn learnmg how much proftt we had made from our booth at Palmyra F arr but although the amotmt was not too slzeable, we all had a lot of fun Evefyone seemed to be glad when the sale of magazines and Chnstmas cards was over as tlns was the last door to door canvassmg that would be done. We welcomed Frona Chapman our exchange student fromNew Zealand who showed her abtlttres as an actress rn our seruor play The Great Brg Doorstep Even months before March we all anxrously awatted the arnval of Easter wluch meant our class trtp to New York Crty Everythmg seemed to be dtfferent and more exerting than we had antictpated and many pleasant memorres were brought home. We all enjoyed the ,Tumor Semor Banquet and Prom held tn our honor H1 May and know from exper rence Just how much work went mto xt We all looked forward toClass Nxght mJ une when we could remuusce over the last few years inschool Although there was much laughter and many lulartous glfts glven, there were also tears shed at the thought of leavmg school and all our frrends This was an active year extracurricularly also.
