if IME 11560112517 Dear Seniors of the Class of 1951, This is being written on January 25thg you have just finished your mid-year examinations and on Monday your last term in high school will begin. And like you, I am wondering what the few short months between now and graduation and all the months and years after that will bring to each of you. There will be great events,--there may be another world war,--or somewhere along the way we may turn back along the road to universal peace and good will. It looks like a topsy-turvy world where no one seems to be certain of anything. But there are some very certain things for this june and all the Iunes to come. There will still be friendship and unselfishness and faith and courage--it will still be a world where there is much human kindness. There will be sunsets and music and flowers and trees--it will still be a beautiful world to live in..There will be need for things to eat and wear and places to live, there will be marvelous things to be made and marvelous machines to be run--it will be a world where people work. People will still laugh and seek pleasure and recreation--it will be a world where you can have fun. There will still be a challenge to protect the rights of human freedom for ourselves and for others and to help construct a world in which those rights can be enjoyed. We have concocted vaccinations and inoculations to overcome many of our most dreaded diseases. I have an idea that if you take a liberal mixture of human kindness and love for beauty and work and fun and stir through it all a great purpose for living it will protect you from most of the pessimism and discouragement and hard knocks to which you will be exposed. Certainly this old world seems brighter to many of us because it contains such grand people as the members of the Class of 1951. Affectionately, 4
