Walter, our supervising principal is not only our teacher, but also our advisor and friend. He has listened to our suggestions and has done everything he could to help us. He has assisted us in all our money raising activities and without his aid we would probably still have an empty treasury. Mr. Walter has also given us many suggestions pertaining to our studies and guidance in choice of our future career. In appreciation of his kindness and under- standing we wish to dedicate the Keystone of 1950 to HR. The boys proved how aggressive they could be by rush ng in and taking the best seats while the girls stood timldly in the hall, In the seventh grade, for the first time, we elected class officers and started a treasury by paying class dues. We spent most of the time planning class parties. We owe a vote of thanks to Mrs. Smith for putting up with us for a whole year. Finally May came and another year was completed. The next September we were transferred to Mr.Gaige, our eighth grade home room teacher. Many of us had to stand in the corner as a result being unable to answer Mr. Houser's history questions. How crowded those corners got! After we had drilled and drilled, we finally faced those eighth grade exams. Because of illness two of our members were unable to take them. One of them made the exams. up in the summer. As a special privilege we were allowed to march behind the seniors at Co mencement. Ninth Grade: we were freshmen, and we moved from the eighth grade room with memories of Mr. Ga1ge's chem1stry,down to a room shared with the sophomores. We felt very big'-almost as big as our sophomore headaches. The one class party we remember was up on Tower Hill. The boys got a few gray hairs because the girls got lost getting there, and they had all food with them. After the girls finally arrived they began acting like monkeys, climbing out the windows. Mr. sradshaw found that he would have to put up with us for another year, and he d1dn't look forward to the idea. Tenth Grade: ' How upset can algebra class get? Mr. Bradshaw found out when the boys and girls were determined to sit together. This year one of our boys dicided that a saIlor's life was more exciting than coming to school. Another just get sick of coming, so he became the assistant janitor. Oh, what freedom Bevn gave up to become a wife! Cheerleaders should make a point of being cheerful toward each other. This should be significant for some of our class mates. Shortly before the close of school we were informed that the next year we World attend high school at Tioga. LHWRENCEVXLLE CLASS HISTORY Seventh Grade: lt last we were able to climb those long flights of stairs and enter Jun- ior High. We felt pretty proud and big, even though the senior high students looked down on us as mere trlfles. We soon got used to more than one teacher, hour-long classes, and a few books to carry home. We spent our last day picnicktng in Watkins Glen and Eldridge Park. Eighth Grade: We were still the same old gang lonly thought we were older and more digni- fiedl. This year we faced our dreaded enemy which we had always heard so much about--eighth grade exams! Pat Brennan led out with high score. Then our great flood came to rescue us from our last week of school. Ninth Grade: Because the rural schools were consolidated with the boro school we had a few new members. They included Ray Manning, Melvin Boom, Lynn Erickson who have faithfully stuck with us. This year we had our share of hot dog roasts at Ryder's cabin, Tannery Creek, and Watkins Glen. Ray Manning and Pat Bren- nan had the leading roles in the senior play, nsunbonnet Jane from Sycamore lane. Tenth Grade: This year our class numbered fifteen. Pat Brennan was our new class pres- ident. Our cjvicgproject was a success. Many social activities and lots of clean-up work. This year Mary Farr helped with the senior play,nHomer's Home Run? We looked forward to our new year when we would join with Tioga and Millerton schools. TIGGIX CLASS WSTORY Seventh Grade: After six years of struggling through the elementary grades we finallyen- tered junior high school. At first those hour periods seemed endless, but we finally got used to them. Jim Norwood joined us this year and very readily learned the purpose of study halls. Remember, Jim? Eighth Grade: From September to May the county exams. hung over us like a black cloud, but we managed to vet through them by the skin of our teeth. This was probably due to our harry-go-lucky nature. When we received our scores we nearly passed out. The three highest were Dick Hatf1eld,Lois Hymes, and Edward Greene. The eighth grade basketball team enjoyed a good season, and most of them looked forward to the next year when they would play on the Junior Varsity. Ninth Grade: This year we had an addition of three students fr0m Farm1ngton.About the only activities that we sponsored were one or two trips to the Grotto. The really big item was that everyone in the class had to carry time sheets be- cause a few just couldn't prepare their homework. What a bother! Tenth Grade: The extent of our activities this year was several trips to the Grotto and a Saint Patrick's Day dance.Lois Hymes and Jean Elliott were chosen cheer- leaders this year. Dick do you remember how you picked on Jean?Bov did she get madlWe managed to strugnle through nMerchant of Venicen and looked forward to the dreaded dav when the Lawrenceville and Tillerton groups would 4o4n ms. WILLIAMSON CLASS HISTORY Eleventh Grade: Boy, was Tioga ever disturbed when Iillerton and Lawrenceville arr1ved.We looked--,wondered--, and then introduced ourselves. We began the year by studying diligently, but by the end of the first quarter we slipped back into the old rut again. Our heads were in the clouds in December, for our class rings arrived after we had pat1entlyC?D waited for them since October. For many months after this our right hands were held high in the air for fear some lowly sophomore might get our rings dirty. Do you hear that horse whinney? That's just Jimmy Steele practicing his part for the junior play,nJust Duckyn, which we presented in the spring. The highlight of the year was the junior-senior picnic at Enfield Glen with peanut butter sandwiches and chocolate cake. We all took nice long strolls and ended up chasing water snakes. We waited on the seniors hand and foot at baccalaureate and commencement, and just to please them, we bought a yearbook. We left in June, wondering how many would return for the senior year. Twelfth Grade: At the opening of the school year our treasury was mighty low, so low, in fact, that we could hardly see it. So we immediately got to work with a mag- azine sale. A house to house canvass boosted our profit to the very top. Our next project was the sale of greeting cards. What fun we had carrying that large box of samples from door to door. Since all the girls but two were in Home Economics we had no trouble at all with our three banquetsfblistered feet and dish-pan hands!l. It was real- ly a sight to watch Dick and Wayne run the potato peeler and Jim and Edward use a dish towel- Both the plays, Hwhiz Kidsu and HFaith, Hope, and Flarityn, were presented more for fun than for money, although we certainlyappreciatedthe latter when it came rolling in. When we published our yearbook we started out with the intention of getting it done early, but as usual we waited until the last minute to do it. Juniors, take warning! Never make this mistake! But thanks to the whole faculty, we finally got it done only two weeks after our deadline. Hurrah! During the last full week of school we were kept busy with baccalaureate, junior-senior p1cnic,alumn1 banquet, class day, and commencement. We left for our Washington trip on the fifth of June and had a wonderful time while the rest of the students were sweating out the last two days of school. ld Z VMI' fTune:Iet the Rest of the World Go By! We all say goodbye to Williamson High And dream of all the days that we have spent with youg We bid farewell to teachers, dear, and to schoolmates who are here. The Whiz Kids ,a three act farce by Jay Tobias, was presented on Nov - ember seventeenth, eighteenth, and twenty - first. Archer Kingsley inherited a mansion and an old wallet with one worn nickel, three ch11dren-- Notalee, seventeen, and the th1rteen-year- old tw1ns,Buck and Bunny, better known as the Whiz Kids. The twins were determined to get rid of Unkyls over - optimistic girl friend, 'Glad' Tydings, and mamma's pessimistic undertaker boy-friend, Burwell Underhill, so when Archer wrote a letter to his boss, Lola Iovejoy, they switched the letters. Mrs. Lovejoy rushed right over to accept the proposal, and Archer put off telling her the truth until ' Glad ' came to return his business letter. Things started popping when Hrs. Lovejoy found out that 'Glad' was engaged to Archer, and Dade made love to Amy to make Noralee jealous. In the confusion which followed, Buck gave ' Glad ' a glass of alum water which puckered up her mouth, and Burywell Underground ' got bit on the big toe by a turtle. The climax came when the Twins discovered that the old nickel was valuable, Archer's manuscript of the life of Iord Byron was a masterpiece and Amy and Archer realized that they were in love. I . u iq I H1111-' FE NJHAQVW The Crabbewtwins, Faith and hope, are upsettjlecause according to a pledge made by their father to his war buddy, Patrick F1arity,one of them must marry Pat's first son. During their father's absenoe,Terenoe Flarity and his friend, Jack Quinlan arrive at the Crabbe home. The twins decide to make themselves hideous so that Flarity won't propose. When Flarity arrives he has the same idea. Their disguises aren't made known until the sudden return of Hr. Crabbe and an u - expected visit of Mr. Flarity. Upon removing their ugly make-up, Faith and Flarity fall in love, and Hope and Jaok follow suit. The fathers are now bitterly opposed to the marriage, because they have both fallen hard for the masquerading Sally. The young people finally straighten out their tangled affairs, making a fltdingxclimax to this whirlwind farce. Under the coaching of Donald Etters remarkable progress has been made and we are in hopes that another season will bring a victorious team with a high league standing. Five of the players will graduate this year, but we are sure that those who take their places will strive to make their team as great a success as it was this year. Junior Varsity Squad This group of players has shown a great deal of playing ability as the Junior Varsity of Williamson High School. Many of them look like remarkable prospects for next year's Varsity. The boys were always right there playing from the first to the last whistle. Although they only succeeded in winning three games, they ran up close scores in the others. ft! r r twain CD -X f VFi3F9E!fTY 1lHFfQEHlLliFl Fi -3 ' - A f'-- s--,-V 1 - ff' r.. V. When you hear this yell, you see five girls attractively dressed in blue and white uniforms appear on the floor. A11 nine of them attended County Chorus, and will never for- get Dry Bones . They provided music for the first senior play, the Christmas program, the Cantata, and commencement. Although five of them graduate this year, they hope that those who take their places will have as much fun in Triple Trio as they have had. X . Several boys tried out for quartet and finally John Brown- first tenor, Buell Baker-second tenor, Gerald Bryant- first bass, Charles Button-second bass, were selected. New books were obtained and hard work was begun In learning to sing together.Part1cular difficulty was found in the first attempt to sing barber shop harmony. One of the highlights of the year was their appearance on the senior play program in April.
