N ff H1sTo12 ? si. Q On August 31, 1953, the teachers looked up from their work and were startled to see forty-three students coming from Lawrence and Martin Counties to enroll at Williams High School. They included the following charter members of our class: Larry Williams, Donald Owens Douglas Loveall, Everett Grissom, Lyle Reuter, Helen Beasley, Wanda Parker, Lula Belle Baker, Linda Chapman, Judy Thompson, Russell Wagner, Homer Brock, Donald Key, and Gordon Simmerman. According to our records, this was the largest freshman class ever to assemble at W.H.S. Although high school life was new to us, we soon became accustomed to our new adventure. We, as the teachers can vouch for. had a very difficult time of keeping out of mischief. Luckily, however, we didn't get into any serious trouble and survived our first year of high school. When we were sophomores we had the new task of selecting our own course of study. We finally decided which ones we wanted and went on to receive our credits. In our junior year we began to sell various things in order to go to Washington, D.C. We enjoyed doing this very much and also raised a good deal of money. Finally. the big day arrived. Twenty-six of the happiest people ever to enter W.H.S. came to enroll for our last year. The graduating class consists of the following students: Russell Wagner, Diana Inman, David Webster, Linda Chapman, Homer Brock, Keith Sheetz, Judy Thompson, Donald Key. Helen Beasley, Gordon Simmerman, Jean Armstrong, James Pruett, Barbara Bex, Jerry Sheetz, Bob Hardwick, Larry Williams, Douglas Loveall, Lula Belle Baker. George Caraway, Lyle Reuter, John Crane, Larry Sipes, Larry Akles, Everett Grissom, Don- ald Owens. and Wanda Parker. Through the years we have had some hardships, but we realize that these years have been some of the most happy and enjoyable years of our lives. As we leave Williams High School, to make our own way in the world, we thank our teachers and our parents for inspiring us to continue our schooling so that we could become better citizens of our beloved country. 15
