' Q i SENIOR ASS HI TORY In the ninth grade lost in the bers of our Wibholm. N SPOHSOI' . fall of 1952, twenty freshmen registered into at Williams High School. We were all bashful large assembly in which we had to study. The class were: Harry Arnold, Robert Barz, Peggy the and mem- Ca- ruth, Ronnie Frayne, Virginia Howe, Mary Lou Holtkamp, Duane Hoversfen, Marlene Jensen, Dale Johnson, Robert Knickerbocker, Lela Mae Meves, Vernon Olson, Jon Petersen, Ramona Ricke, Keith Roe, Sharon Schutt, Albert Tordoff, Marilyn Westwick, and Carl . We elected the following officers: President-Mary Lou Holtkamp, Vice President-Ramona Ricke, Secretary-Marilyn West wick, Treasurer-Keith Roe. Miss Benita Moore was our class In March we lost Vernon Olson, who moved to Nevada, and in April we lost Ronnie Frayne. Girls receiving awards in basketball were' Marlene Jensen Marilyn Westwick, Mary Lou Holtkamp, and Ramona Ricke Robert Barz and Jon Petersen received basketball awards Peggy Caruth, Lela Mae Meves, Marlene Jensen, Mary Lou Holtkamp Mary Clara Knickerbocker, and Harry Arnold were ac- tive 1D speech Marlene Jensen received a I rating in the contest at Webster City Manv of the boys and girls in our class participated in Glee Club, Mixed Chorus, and small music groups The freshmen lost to the sophomores in the annual Fresh men Sophomore Hunt and had to treat them None of the groups were found When we returned in the fall to begin our sophomore year we found two classmates missing They were Duane hoversten and Jon Petersen IIN! l17',e Class officers chosen for our sophomore year were Presi dent Lela Mae Meves, Vice President Dale Johnson, Secretar Marlene Jensen, Treasurer Ramona Ricke Our class sponsor was Mr Tanner The girls who received awards in basketball were Marilyn Westwick, Mary Clara Knickerbocker, Mary Lou Holtkamp, Ramona Hicke, and Marlene Jensen All five of these girls went to the Girl's State Basketball Tournament this year They lost to Tingley in their first game, but had the pleasure of staying in Des Moines for a week The only boy to receive a basketball award was Bob Knick erbocker Bob Knickerbocker, Marlene Jensen, Peggy Caruth, and Lela Mae Meves were active in speech Lela Mae Meves received a I rating at the state contest We succeeded in not being found by the freshmen in the Freshmen Sophomore Hunt and were treated Pine Lake near Eldora was the site of our cl ss picnic I SJUUHOHJUS lllll s 66 1 ll s llll 1s, low 1111 - i' 7' 4.2 'o , . 1 tl 1 . e - E ' E ., VJ 0 . - W ' l - 5 ' L.. , , ,I ,, O ,, - R4 CD I o - , Q- - - . Mrs Eller was our class snonsor T 15 year we lost Marlly Nestwick who went to Ellsworth and galned Clara Jansen who had prevlously gone to Radcllffe H1yh School In October Beverly Kennedy moved to Wllliams from Cedar Raplds and Jolned our class One of the hlghllghts of E515 year was the class play nThe Little Dog Laughedn under the d1r CCIUH of Mr Stanley Johnson Our Junlor Senlor Banquet was a big success We chose 'Gay Parie W for our theme Afterwards we had our prom and danced to the muslc of NStubn Hemphlll Three members of our typlng class recelved forty word plns th1S year They were Bob Knlckerbocker, Marlene Jen sen, and Mary Lou Holtkamp Our class picn1c was held at Clear Lake The day was en goyed by boatlng and swlmmlng We reached the last mllestone of our hlgh school career as the senlors of '56 Pesgy Caruth and Beverly Kennedy had left our class Our Off1C9FS were Presldent Robert Knick erbocker, V1ce Presldent Robert Barz, becretary Lela Mae Meves Treasure Mary Lou Holtkamp Our class sponsor was Mr Shelton In November we went to the Woltz Studlo ln Des Moines where we had our graduation PICCUPSS taken After a day of shopplng, V1S1tiUg tne WHO TV station, and g0lUg to a movle we were all Hlad to return home The Junlors treated us after the annual Jun1or Senlor Hunt One of our groups was found Many other big events took place durlng our senlor year that we will always remember They were day Breakfast, bk1p Day the Senlor Class Play, the Junlor benlor Prom, Baccalau reate, Class Nlght and last but not least graduation And so w1th a total of flfteen we leave good ole w1ll13mS High w1th many memor1es not to be forgotten 1 Drs Tbmplenan and Buzzetti Vhrn vulgamott Willilmlv 10 Williams, Iowa Aldon, Iowa I ,P. sf A , ,X MIX l Q M
