There's only a few more weeks of school, and I think I have enough points to get my diploma. johnny, my son ,'reasoned his father, I know that you have your heart set on getting in the Air Force. I'm proud of you, son, hut your mother and I hoth feel that you should stay home with ns and finish school. You know how happy we've heen that you're doing so well. No, wait, johnny. let me finish. You graduating with honors is the hest reward we could ever have for doing' what we could for you. Think of all your classmates yon'd he leaving, Think of Gerry, that pretty little girl you'ye heen seeing quite a hit of lately. And another thing, son, you're so young. You're all that your mother and I hare left. VVhen ,lim was-was-killed. it was a terrihle hlow to us. Think it over. son. IJon't decide on the spur of the moment. It seemed almost as light as day with the moon shining in through the window. It seemed to envelop eyery detail of the room in its light. It didn't seem possihle that there was a war ou. Everything seemed so peaeeful. This dear old room. The room he and jim had shared together. A lump came in his throat as mem- ories rushed hefore him.
