B» ' m;. ififeltl Although the ren¬ ovat ions here at Wil¬ liams weren’t begun until this year, the actual plans for them were made in 1975. The most urgent changes to be made re¬ lated to safety and accommodations for handicapped stu¬ dents. Other problems concerned energy conservation, lighting, use of the school grounds, need for a better learning environment, and general repairs. The extent of the renovations will depend on the amount of funds available and the changes that are approved by the School Board. Many improvements are already apparent. We now have a ventilation system as a result of the installation of eight exhaust fans. The suspended ceilings and insulation around the win¬ dows will help conserve energy. For handicapped stu¬ dents, we have ramps at two locations, curb cuts, and handicapped stalls in the bathrooms. We also have flu¬ orescent lights throughout the entire building, new locks on freshly painted lockers, and a new fire alarm system. These are only a few of the changes that have taken place at Williams this year. Plans have already been made for many more improvements to keep Williams in top condition and as modern as possible. —Becky Long i Renovations 5

WHAT IS IT? School Spirit School Spirit — what is it? Most people would be quick to say going to ball games and yelling until they can ' t yell any more, or just plain going wild. But here at Williams, school spirit is displayed in more ways than just cheering our teams on to victory. Williams prides itself in many different areas. Not only do we have one of the best athletic programs in the state, but we also rank among the state’s finest in academics and the arts. “Second to none, and first in the hearts of us ail.” Most W.H.S. students would agree with this statement. That, in itself, is what school spirit really is — that feeling of pride that dwells in the hearts of everyone. School Spirit 7 i
